He has messy, bright red hair and similarly coloured eyes. He has a height of 178cm (5'8"), making him slightly taller than the rest of people he knows. He normally wears his uniform in a casual manner, wherein he neither wears it too loose or too neatly. Other than his uniform on campus, in the dorms, he'll wear a black male cotton kimono, due to his traditional upbringing, favouring it as his 'relaxing clothes'. Off-campus, he'll wear favourite casual clothes, which are a dark-rose shirt with a graphic acoustic guitar on it, a pair of gunmetal-grey jeans and a pair of dark-red-and-white converse sneakers. His unique accessory is his Cherry-Drop Dark-Rose headphones, which he'll always be using regardless of what he's wearing, well, everywhere except classes, and 'chatting' to other people.
- Times of a Traditional Past:
- His mother and father died in a plane crash when he was just a baby, and at the time he given to his aunt to babysit him as both his parents had gone on a business meeting on the behalf of the Ishitawa family. His aunt, who adopted him as to take care of her sister's son, died of cancer when he was a small boy at the age of 7. His aunt had no children of her own, but did well in her upbringing of him at the beginning of his childhood. It was her, his aunt, who told him that his mother loves to sing to her favourite idols, taught him how to sing, even if she didn't know how and had no experiance, and taught him how to play the guitar, something she had years of practice and experience behind. At her funeral, he was picked up by a messenger, dressed in a black male cotton kimono, who was sent by his grandparents and was told he would be staying with them. However hard it was, he knew it would be easier to leave for Kyoto City and leave these bad memories behind and go to live with them, knowing it would be a fresh start for him. He was then taken to the main Ishitawa residence in Kyoto, and lived in the care of his grandparents up until he was accepted into 'The Sonic Warriors of the Thirteenth Note' (13th Note for short) as their main vocalist and guitarist at the age of 13.
Ryuu, at age 7 and a 1/2, was then bought up in a very prestigious family, with both power and money backing them up. Told he would become the next head of the Ishitawa family, his grandparents were as strict as they were lenient to him, training him for such a task, teaching him how to cook, clean, think, and act like what he would be needed to become. Slowly gaining soft skills and learning swordsmanship at the Shinmei-ryu, Ryuu, at the young age of 10, was given the title of the first ever 'Spirit of the Dragonslayer', reflecting his name's meaning and his style of fighting.
He was then sent to a prestigious school, which he came to dislike due to the snobbish reactions of the other students to his singing and guitar playing, saying he was wasting his time on utter foolish traits he wouldn't need in the future. He went through his elementary and first two years of middle school with his headphones on, as a way to guard himself from any interaction with the other students.
He came to love singing and playing his guitar out loud when his grandfather heard him singing and playing an unfinished song in his room at night, and the next day Ryuu awoke to be praised for his talent and skill by him. Finding his passion for music when his grandparents were telling him about the many traits he had gained from his deceased father and mother, with his mother having a great singing voice, and his father, who had married into the Ishitawa family (and taking on their name) was a talented flute and viola player. At this point, his relationship with his grandparents had changed from just taking care and training him, to a much softer, familial relationship, with Ryuu always, just before he would end his day, asking them to tell him stories of his parents and their own pasts. He gained a lot of knowledge and insight during these stories, and as he began applying it to his life, he began to become more attentive, and with each day, he grew more and more mature, gaining the ability to read between the lines of other people's words, to either gain insight or find out a person's true motive.
It was on a rainy night, a few weeks after his 11th birthday, and as his grandparents were telling tales of their pasts, a poisonous spider had bitten him, causing him to be in bed for a few days, and he gained an arachnophobia, to which he will literally run away from them and practically leave the room he's in. His grandparents, at the time, thought it was his way of trying to walk out of his daily duties, but after a few times, his grandmother, after looking closely, came to see his apparent fear of spiders. His grandfather still sceptical about the whole ordeal, gave him a charm to protect his grandson of his deepest fears, and it seems to work, with Ryuu regaining his composure and going back to his training as the next-in-line.
He would then, two years later of practice and discipline, perform at the first major business meeting that he would attend with his grandparents had with their advisers and important figures in connection with his family. Doing well for someone who was taught by someone with zero-experience, and then improving it on his own, he was given a chance to expand his musical knowledge as one of the important figures was a record producer, who invited him to join a band that was just starting out to become famous, but needed a vocalist and lead guitarist, and without the chance to decline the offer. Seeing that Ryuu could gain back some of his childhood that he had lost over the years, due to the tragedies that happened during, he grandparents encouraged him to go. Now that he had the approval to do something that he loved doing, he accepted the offer, and at age 13, became the youngest and the last addition to 13th Note.
- Rise to Fame, Fortune and Glory:
- Welcomed merrily into the band of 13th Note, Ryuu, was the nervous youngster of the group, and became the one with the most sparks in him, officially coming up with the band's name. Becoming spontaneous and enthusiastic over their time together, the other four of the band really relied on his morale speeches before their shows at various places during their school years of public middle schooling, and unmentioned to Ryuu, their problems that were left behind. Since he was the loner of his high-class middle school, nothing really mattered to him since he had his music, his band buddies, his headphones and his guitar. Studying while on the road, mostly in front of his classmates points in the many classes he would be taking, his grades weren't all that bad, scoring 60% in most of the majorly important exams.
His relationship with the other band members was based on a rule the other four had come up with: "Our pasts are nothing to talk about, as some of us came out from a dark and disturbing one, directly or indirectly. Even if you were a criminal, it's nothing to hold against the person who is, unless he tries anything funny on the rest of us." Finding this rule to work for him, Ryuu kept his mouth sealed about his power and money, and how he was the next-in-line to become the head of such a powerful family, but it all wasn't all spy and games all the time. He got become a great friend of the rest of his band, learning from them new things, such as sewing his clothes and expanding his cooking to European foods, and finding his passion to teach other people, sparking his passion to become a music teacher one day.
Becoming a pop sensation all over Japan, up until, on his 15th birthday, after his graduation from middle school, the British band 'Freefonix' began touring in Japan (alongside them: Crush 40, S.S.H, and many more), after their successful tour in the USA and Europe, with the 13th Note touring with them. This sparked off the largest lawsuit that each band had ever known, as the name 'The Sonic Warriors of the Thirteenth Note' was a registered alternate name used by Freefonix around the world. Ryuu, having not made any attempts to reveal his past, just as the others of his band had done, decided to pull out his 'Big Guns'- His own lawyers of the Ishitawa family. Asking them to find a loophole in the whole ordeal, it took a few days before both sets of lawyers came to a justified agreement: all the 13th Note had to do was change their name, and things would go back to normal. After a team meeting, 13th Note changed their name to the 'Sonic's Dynamos', and beginning to explore different genres of music, becoming a band which touched on all mainstream genres, allowing their popularity to soar. Becoming a sensation and changing their style from funky pop to rock, they became a great band, with their fame still growing, they got the major chance to participate in the music festival held in Tokyo, where there, they would be the spearhead of the entire festival: the Tokyo Music Festival.
As a last precaution, the entire group put their trust into Ryuu, knowing full-well that they would go far in the end. Confident in his friends' skills and talent and also in his own, he told them they would conquer the entire festival, but on one condition: that they go back to their normal lives once it was done. Wanting to know the reason why Ryuu would suggest such an absurd thing, Ryuu counterattack with all he could see was the hidden pain in his friends' eyes, and that they had to go back to their darkness to find their own placement of light, and to him, it was like finding his own song, and proceeded to sing that once unfinished song, having finished off in secret, alongside his studies and sword-training.
Moved by his performance and slowly wanting to begin to change their lives and not be controlled by their pasts, the five made a pact not to run away from their problems and face them head on, and ask for help from the trusted people around them, deciding wholeheartedly live their lives. Ryuu, after singing the song, but this time with his friends along, started to feel a strange irritation in his throat, saying he could taste blood in his mouth. With the rest telling him to rest his voice and go wash out his mouth, he was surprised but the faint trace of blood in the phlegm he spat out. Deciding to keep his discovery a secret from his friends', he headed for the 'Tokyo Music Festival' , with high hopes to aim for their 'own song', beginning his major downfall, not what one would call a disability as such, but a disabling disorder to him nonetheless.
- Stepping Down from the Pedestal:
- After a successful first half of the music festival, Ryuu's throat began to swell up at an alarming rate, but he powered through it, trying as hard as he could to keep it secret. He didn't want to spoil the fun that the 'Sonic's Dynamos' were having. During one of the shows, and during a specific song that they were playing that needed Ryuu to shout, Ryuu's voice became hoarse and he was them in extreme pain, clutching his throat.
He was then sent directly to the nearest hospital's A&E, and directly to the operation's theatre. There, they found a acute-going-into-majorly-chronic case of laryngitis, and it was mainly affecting his vocal cords. The surgery was done in a rush to send the main attraction of the Tokyo Music Festival back on stage, which consequently ended in the surgeon's mistake of cutting his nerve controlling the vocal cords. Shutting and suffocating Ryuu slowly, the surgeon had no other choice but to render the muscles of the vocal cords useless, by keeping the cords intact and opening two holes on the sides of the cords.
Waking up from the whole ordeal and realising that he had lost his most powerful tool which gained him his success in the first place, he became depressed and angry at what happened, constantly blaming the doctor in a way the doctor would understand him, in the only way he could now: grunts, whistles and glaring at him. He began to shun his band mates until one of them rolled up a magazine and proceeded with a 'who-the-hell-are-you-to-act-so-selfishly?!-Snap-out-of-it-you-moron!" smack and speech that lasted a good half hour, explaining the hell that each member had come from, with the speech giver showing his scarred arms, one, his scarred back, one explaining the sexual abuse he had taken and the last explaining his broken-up poor family. Telling him if he wanted to stand up, he would have to find his own song, he used Ryuu's own words against him. Asking for his guitar to be bought to him, he played that one song that would never be forgotten by the rest of them, with his friends singing along. Finding his passion to fix his life once more, he asked to be sent back to his grandparents, who’s only contact with them, was sending a letter with a cheque in it, back to his home, where he could then find a way to adapt to his life.
Bidding his close friends goodbye, he promised he would keep in touch with them, taking their email addresses with him as he left. To his dismay, when he got back, he had found that his grandfather was now deceased and his grandmother mourning his death. Feeling like a ton of bricks had fallen on his head, he began to see that he had left the most important thing he had behind and neglected it, ultimately knowing the price he paid for his fame. With a forgiving grandmother by his side, who was very surprised and more so saddened by her grandson’s loss of voice, she began communicating with his by writing things down on a notepad, telling him that he should blame and punish himself for the neglecting of his family, but should then realise he shouldn't make the same mistake twice. Taking in his grandmother’s words, he requested that he learn sign language and get an electronic tablet he could use to also communicate with those who didn’t know sign language.
The first incident that he would show true annoyance was that his swordsmanship was lacking, as he had gained technique in his kata-form, but not skill or experience. Asking for an opponent that he could have train him and help him reach his zenith once more. Gaining a partner in Ayane Aoyama, the daughter of the current head of his school he was training at, they became friendly rivals in their swordsmanship, and outside of the dojo, they were close friends, with Ayane loving to listen to Ryuu’s guitar playing. After a while of training, learning sign and gaining his confidence in himself back, he assumed his title as the Ishitawa family heir, but was told he had to get into university and get a job before he could handle his family’s business. With a school chosen for him by his grandmother to cater for his needs, knowing of his loneliness at the prestigious school he was schooled at, Yamaku Academy in Sendai seemed like the grand choice. Told it was a school for disabled people, he knew he wouldn't be teased about what happened, even though his disorder wasn't a disability. Accepting his fate, and looking for an exit from his negative darkness within him, he walked towards his new destination with open arms, wanting a change in scenery, to start his life afresh.
PERSONALITY:
Ryuu is an energetic but gentle young man, who’s friendly and positive person who
TRIVIA:
- His sword is called 'Kamikaze no Kairesuburedo', which roughly translated into the 'Ki/Chi-less Blade of Kamikaze', denoting his style of fighting doesn't primarily use Ki/Chi as it's basis, going for more a speed ‘rush-down’ and onrush approach. He has a good idea how to use Ki/Chi, but with the laws of physics unbreakable, he tries to maintain a realistic view of his style of fighting.
- His guitar is a Les Paul Gibson Sunburst, complete with it's original reddish-brown-into-yellowish-brown colour.
- He is an avid manga reader, and is a fan of Ken Akamatsu’s works. He has a collection of his comedy-romance ‘Ai Love You’ and ‘Love Hina’, which were a present from Ayane.
- The song that he plays at the beginning and to his friends to re-motivate them is an acoustic version of Crossfade's 'Colours', just with his own Japanese lyrics to them.
- He has a Kik messenger account he uses for his friends, with his username being 'RyuuIshitawa' (Yes, it's real and works in RL, well, most of the time). This is how he primarily talks to his band-mates, or to any of his friends from his room.
- Since his father played the viola during his prime, Ryuu, taking it a step down, listens to 'Lindsey Stirling'. He also says that "We Are Giants (ft. Dia Frampton) - Lindsey Stirling, Shatter Me (2014)" is his image song, reflecting his life's battle. His 'Serious Confrontations' image song would be "Dragonslayer - Takanashi Yasharu, Fairy Tail OST Vol. 1, reflecting his sword style and calmness during a fight.
- He admits his love for Freefonix's music is what gave him the initial idea to come with the first name for the Sonic's Dynamos, which sparked the legal battle in the end.
- As he was taught how to cook western food from his band-mates, his favorite dish is a 'quiche made with spinach and a bell pepper mix'. He also like to cook it with meat, but since quiches have an intense amount of oil in it, he settles for making a meaty lasagna from time to time.
- His favorite sports are the Olympics, funnily enough.
- His swordsmanship and hand-to-hand combat are at a semi-pro level.
- Being a stubborn person, he'll do things logical people wouldn't if they were sick, like walking around in the snow with a full-fledged cold, only wearing an open jacket (over his kimono even). He'll listen if you give him a reasonable reason to do the logical thing, though.

Re: Ryuu "Ishita" Ishitawa
I'd be happy to answer any questions just to clarify anything that could be misinterpreted, so no worries~!
(EDIT) I'd need to explain why he would bring with his Bokken and real katana Kamikaze, right? But I think that Shinmei-ryu is enough of an explanation. Also, edited the entire post for spell-checking, grammar checking and added a few things of the trivia section.
