Curiosity killed the cat. Well, mute.

Post by Rii Nakamura on Wed Mar 20, 2013 8:45 am

Rii had heard rumours circulating about a new Psychotherapist in the academy - and she supposed she should atleast visit once. Why? Because she felt it'd be polite. Though it was mainly buired within all that curiousity - something she supposed could lead her into trouble one of these days. Stopping outside the door, she raised a hand and knocked.

Opening the door, she stepped inside. Honestly, it seemed more homely than she'd been expecting - Not that she'd had visions of meat hooks or anything. No, nothing as unimaginable as that. Rii quickly decided she needed to stray away from the late night horror films. They were beginning to effect her thinking. She hesitated slightly, wondering if her curiosity really was a decent enough reason to greet him. Shoving one hand in her pocket, she pulled out the notebook which she practically relied on - scrawling down on the page.

~Hello! Sorry to bother you, I guess I was curious.~

(Mute? She's can't be deaf since she answered my calling immediately.)

He smiles.

"You aren't bothering me at all."

He stands up from his chair and extends his hand above it.

"As you may have read on the door, my name is Hemington."

~I'm Rii.~

She writes, beginning to feel that her previous hesitation was unnecessary after all.

He smiles politely.

"Well, nice to meet you, Rii."

He sits down, showing you one of the chairs while doing so.

"Please take a seat. What can I do for you?"

Rii moved over to the vacant chair and sat down.

~Do you know anything about getting rid of phobias?~

~Fire - even though I've never had any physical problems with it.~

Rii wasn't really sure why she found herself so afraid of it - to the point where if someone lit a lighter infront of her, she'd just freeze. Despite this, she'd never had any bad experiences to cause the phobia.

"No physical problems, you said? Did you see a traumatizing movie with fire when you were younger? Has anything happened related to fire in your life that shocked you, even if it was something you were only told?"

~Erm, there were some nightmares I used to have~

She wrote, frowning lightly. Rii couldnt remember much about them, but they had definetly involved fire.

(Late reply, apologies)

[No problem!]

He furrows his brow in thought for a couple of seconds.

"Did you have them after 'becoming' afraid of fire, or was it the other way around? If you can recall, that is."

She tried to think back, wondering which of them had started first. Though, she'd been so young at the time she honestly didn't know.

~Can't remember which came first.~

"So, which level is it? Lighter level, or firecamp?"

He smiles reassuringly.

~Lighter level.~

Unfortunately, that was one of the main reasons that Rii was never keen to venture to the city or public place - smoking was incredibly common, and she hated the sight of lighters. They were enough to make her freeze, but luckily people never had them lit for long.

"I see. It must complexify your everyday life a lot."

His smile drops a bit, back to serious mode, although he didn't really quit it in the first place. He maintains a gentle voice though.

"There are phobias with a trigger. A traumatism, an event that made the fear happen. A dog bites you, you become afraid of them. There are also fears which are... inherited."

He pauses for a couple of seconds.

"For example, one of your family members is afraid of thunder. Every time there is a thunderstorm, he or she hugs you while crying and praying the house doesn't explode. There is a big chance you'll become also afraid of it when you grow up. It's more frequent than one could think. Is there someone afraid of fire in your family or old friends?"
