[Open] A Wealth of Knowledge

Post by Sayuri Motozaki on Wed Apr 03, 2013 11:09 pm

After lessons had finished for the day, Sayuri decided to have a look around the library. It surprised her that she hadn't been before; libraries, after all, were quiet places, generally quite undisturbed. Not to mention that her dad ran a publishing company, so Sayuri should well be at home amongst the numerous volumes on the shelves. Speaking of which...

Out of curiosity, Sayuri found herself poring the shelves, trying to spot if any of the books had been published by her father's company. She knew the company published encyclopedias and fact books, she'd seen them piled high on the shelves at home, so she decided to start with the encyclopedia section. After a quick search, she found it and began making her way along the shelves, checking the publisher of each title to see if it was her father's company. Nothing yet...I'll keep looking, there has to be one in here...

Sumiko peeks her head out into the passage way where Motozaki is
What is she looking for?
She walks up holding a fact book about Rome and speaks
"Motozaki-san a-are you looking for a certain book?"

Sayuri jumps, dropping the volume on Baroque architecture she had just picked up. She winces as the heavy volume lands on her frail legs, and swiftly picks it back up again. Well, this is slightly awkward...I suppose there's no point in lying about what I'm doing, any false explanation I can come up with will just sound even sillier than the truth.

"Well...not really. You see, my father runs a publishing company and I was curious about whether any of the books it's published are here in the school library. I don't know everything they publish, but I know they do encyclopedias, so I thought I might as well start here."

"I think it's just called Motozaki Publishing." Sayuri takes the book from Sumiko. "Thanks for the help, I appreciate it. Hmm...no, this isn't one of theirs either."

"Here's one." Sayuri takes out an old-looking encyclopedia of plants. "I think we have this same book at home."

SHe begins the search again. After a few moments Sumiko pulls out a different book but its dusty; it has the same publisher Motozaki had mentioned. Sumiko blows on it and a puff of dust rises

"Uhh...okay then." Sayuri still seems a little taken aback but seems to realize that Sumiko did not mean to ask such a question.

Even if it hadn't been proceeded with an equally stupid question, the matter of Sayuri's disability was still sensitive enough to tip her over the edge. She gripped the arms of her wheelchair tightly, barely restraining herself from leaping to her feet. "That's none of your business!"

"Sit DOWN, Motozaki!"

*Click*

The door behind me closes.

I though I heard a raise of voices. Guess I was right.

Walking up between them, my eyes are that of a serpent's.

With a tongue of fire, my voice pierces the air again as I look at Sayuri.

"Your legs are hurting and so is Nakagawa. That leaves no point in you standing."

My gaze which could penetrate the darkness of Hell is directed toward her.

"Mishaps and lack of judgment is no reason to frighten someone."

Sayuri stands for a moment longer as she cools down, trembling slightly as her legs struggle to support her. Then she slowly sinks back into her wheelchair, looking away, ashamed at her latest outburst.

"I'm sorry. I should not have shouted like that."

"As for you."

My head turns but my eyes are less threatening.

A more suitable gaze for scolding.

"Let other people tell you what their reasons are for being here on their own time."

"You may be familiar on that with me."

Now that I think about it, she hasn't ever told me how she has only one arm.

"And another thing."

I have been waiting to say this.

"When someone is threatening toward your security don't break. Sticking up for yourself is paramount if you wish to not be stepped on all your life."

"When a situation arises, fight or flight."

"Freeze does nothing for you."

I may not be an abrasive person, but when it comes to qwerks that are pointlessly self destructive or pointlessly destructive upon others it just bothers me.

So much.
