"Yes, we do have our own little qualities here."

I grin and slightly raise my glass at Hawke before downing my own bit and set it down on a nearby surface.

The story Yuuji explains seems too plausible and his voice is too relaxed for me to naturally bother looking in his eyes so I don't even think of it as anything but normal conversation.

The room part does interest my mind just a tiny bit, though, until I dismiss it as 'doing what the proper man should do for your girl.'

(Chris closes his eyes in gratitude of Rachel's safety. He says his next lines of dialogue without opening his eyes.) Fellas, I'm deathly afraid of what the future holds in store for me. If me and Rachel were to share our futures together... (Chris opens his eyes.) What am I saying? Rachel's likely going to leave this school and move onto bigger and better things.

Yuuji pours himself another drink as Chris speaks
"Your damn right she is."
He looks down at the ground and rubs his neck remembering what he said to her last night...

I think about and feel sympathy for Yuuji hearing this.

That's a bummer, ain'it?

Not being able to follow, or be followed by, your significant other...

I don't even need to have been in love before to know that sucks.

My mind begins to run a simulation of what it would be like if that happened to me and how I would feel.

I've had my life planned out since the second year of junior high. What if I meet someone I like who also has an adamantium plan?

What then?

...

I would be a man and think it out like I always do.

I mean...I always got the best solutions to every problem given to me...

...right?

Yeah, I'll be fine. I may have to compromise or even give up my designated career choice for something that fits on her but that is fine with me.

My career is not my life's dream after all.

The only dream careers I have are impossible with my body anyway.

Damn, this is a depressing thought topic-I need another drink.

I reach for the bottle and pour myself another helping and drink it down.

After I lower my glass I speak toward Yuuji.

"You alright, mate?"

"I can go for one."

Huh... How interesting. Never thought about seeing people post-school. Never mind girlfriends, what about friends?

These guys are the friendliest bunch I've ever met... What would I do without them?

I know it's only been a few months but... hell, life without them must suck in comparison. I guess it did, till I came here.

I'd miss Satoshi's dry wit, Yuuji's magnetic personality and gentlemanly manner, and Chris' pure masculinity in the form of an Adonis-like body, he sure is someone to look up to. Kind. Compassionate. Loyal. Kinda like a dog. Or a wolf.

Hawke thinks back to his first impression of Chris, and definitely remembers the word "lupine" popping into his head more than once.

Heh. First impressions really are accurate.

"Speaking of after-school plans... what do you guys actually plan on becoming?"

What do I want? Technically I don't need a job and I have millions of pounds waiting for me back home, but I'd need hobbies and interests... Maybe charity work? A politician... Or just follow in Dad's footsteps and become a rock-star. Heh.

(Chris begins to shiver. Remembering that he is only wearing a pair of briefs, he requests a blanket on Hawke's bed.) Could I maybe borrow that blanket over there? (Hawke tosses Chris the blanket, and he envelopes himself in it.) Know that we are on the subject of future careers, I always used to tell myself that I would make an excellent law official one day. That's the type of career that would make Sumiko worry if I would come home every night. Plus, on my defective leg, I seriously doubt that I could outrun a fleeing suspect.

Out of the list of jobs I wouldn't mind doing or I'm mentally and talently qualified for (removing any my disabilities counter)-

Musician/band teacher
Author of books for a range of child to adult
Manga artist
Anime artist
Science teacher
Science professor (possibly)
Scientist (Already got the hair down!)
Physics teacher
Chemistry teacher
History teacher
Military historian
English teacher
psychology teacher
Ballistics engineer
Firearm designer
Weapon smith
Automotive (transportation in general-actually) designer
Automotive mechanic
Therapist (heh...the rapist-OH COMEDIAN
...okay not really comedian-I suck at that.)
Aerospace engineer-wait...no..no I'm awful at the math needed for a career such as that.
packaging and shipping designer
Iron worker
[It's safe to assume by now it is either A:manditory to tie off instead of just encouraged/ B: a new type of tie off that is both less-combersome and more flexible has been invented and makes it easier to balance and work than the current one/ or C: all the above.]
Police officer
Detective
And private security

-I'd say transportation design would be the best to go for.

It may not be as interesting to me as something like a type of artist or firearm designer but it is the most sought after position and highest paying (next to Aerospace Engineer I think) out of the list. Since none of these are really my dream jobs I can just pick the best from all of them.

My reason as to why the automotive designing is up on the list would be because I've always had an innovator's mind and liked to improve on things that are already good.

I also like to draw so any time I'm using a drafting board instead of a CADD program would be interesting.

As for the automotive part, that is something I-as the nearly perfect male stereotype (other than the automatic pervert)-love as a whole.

A man and cars, that's the natural order of things.

*G*Ah, forgot German teacher...

"Perhaps own a theatre with a bar then."

My cousins, aunts, and uncles that were interested in music (about 80% of my mother's side and 0% on my father's) back in the states used to perform at a location like the kind I suggested.

Was called 'The Emerald Theatre.'

A spot where a small bands often got noticed by the bigger fish.

The place foreclosed after the market crashed, though, and my family has stuck to private performances at their own or friends' parties ever since.

"Allows two businesses in one and what could bring more guests and guest bands in than the fact that it's owned by a music legend?"

I grin my normal grin.

"I'd say it's the best of both worlds for you."

"However, to stay in any type of money above lower-middle class you'd have to keep up at least a little in music."

Didn't want to drink anymore since I'm not a heavy drinker at all but what the hell.

I raise my glass next to everyone else's but, instead of saying cheers, I make another unexpected move while everyone else says it.

"Yuuji drinks too much!"

I send the liquid down my throat and set it on the table.

My eyes shut and my head bows out of relaxation with a lighthearted expretion.

"Hm, you should know me well enough by now to know that was a serious suggestion."

"But if it isn't your style, it isn't your style."

I notice the two leave and don't say anything past "later, guys" until I'm forced to realize that I'm still with Tiberius in his room.

*E*"Heh, 'he dude just drank the equivalent of approximately 12 beers in 40 minutes and he's got an errand to run?"

*"I can''elp but wonder how 'e ain't drunk of his ass."

I myself am feeling a little woozy with taking a little less than Yuuji but I don't show it in my actions as easily because my natural act is similar to being under the influence of something, to be honest.

The only difference is I have a chance to become a little more emotional than usual and pass out more often.

"Me? Five or six glasses... I'm fine though. Bit tipsy, but I can handle it."

Hawke goes to pour another glass for himself and Satoshi, only to realise the bottle is gone.

"Well... I guess we'll have to make do with this."

He then pulls out a bottle of Jagermeister.

"Beautiful."

He takes a couple of shots of the cough-syrupy liquid and hands the bottle to Satoshi.

"So, what do you think was up with Chris?"

I set the bottle to the side, contempt with how much I drank.

Politician that doesn't screw people over powers activate!

I lean forward. My head tilted down while I put myself elbows to thighs.

This calls for a compromising technique. Giving enough to make it look a lot like I'm spitting it all when I'm only releasing an amount a normal, innocent, person would know.

"Well, he was hesitant to speak about it so there is, indeed, a variable that could mean he wants help for something that he may have told Nakagawa about that may hurt her or put her in danger."

"Also, if that is true, it would have to be something that he cannot fix so it is not anything like an attitude or anything like that which he could fix."

"For him to put her in danger is a long shot with his general ability to defend her from anything."

"My personal diagnosis would have to be he is either physically sick and worried about her health for that or he is just over reacting."

I put more emphasis on the second possibility to suggest that is what I think it likely is when I really think it is the first one. Worded to sound unlikely as well.

I am not lying one bit. This is my exact diagnosis but re-worded.

So I guess you can say I did better than expected by being just as discreet while still saying everything I know.

Physically sick with a very unique, secret disease or over reacting.

"Nothing like an attitude.. so... an emotional? Or physical problem? E.g. he's a murdering sociopath? Nice. I've wanted someone to discuss tact- I mean er, oh no!"

Hawke gives Satoshi a wry smile, knowing he isn't letting on to something.

"Mostly emotional, I reckon."

It's the truth.

I grin.

"Hey-don't look at me like that-I told you what I think the situation is."

That is also the truth.

I'm the brains?

I'm just socially sharp. Brain's have nothing to do with that unless you count the passive effect of getting smarter over time by exercising my social intellect.
