So...Kendo. Empty So...Kendo.

Post by Satoshi Veach Tue Mar 12, 2013 12:42 am

As a kid with a long love for weapons, I've automatically taken a liking to the katana.

Not just for it's sleek look but it's enginuity and style needed to wield one most effectively.

Naturally, due to insufficient funds and a very caring mother, I was never granted the honor of using one. Not even anything close to one.

Luckily for me I found out recently that Yamaku has some kendo sticks in the gym for me to use so as a result I've been here for a good while.

Just standing by a punching bag to use for a target. Encorperating my style of fighting into the newly-found extention of my mind's will.

One ear of mine taken up by the sounds of up beat classical music.

Other ear open so I don't cloths line someone trying to get my attention-of course.

I can't believe I never thought to try this!

I'm having a blast with this for some reason. It's not very hectic with there being no current challenge.

I wonder why I never did this and then I remember that one good blow to the head (even if it is a slight chance that may happen) and I could end up in the hospital after fainting.

For a teacher or coach, that is already too much risk.

Wade walks inside the gym, intending to get some training done after slacking off for a little while. What sort of training? Well, it doesn't really matter to him! "I'm just gonna join whatever they're training. As long as it's not gymnastics, I should be fine!" passes through his head. Unfortunately, the only person he finds inside is a boy whacking a punching bad with a bokken.

'Wow, that has got to be the worst stance I've ever seen in my entire life!' Wade comments out loud as he approaches the boy. 'I mean, it's obvious you've never held a bokken in your life, but can't you, I dunno, make it a little bit less obvious? I mean, it's like you're TRYING to suck!'

"Mm?"

This kid is so insensitive that I like him.

...never would of thought that was even possible-but hey, you learn something new every day!

"Haha-suppose you are correct on that. I altered the stance for this a bit because my natural style is more European."

"To tell you the truth, I haven't watched much kendo so I don't even know the stance well enough to correctly use it."

My style is almost completely defensive, pushing the stick only a little forward at a time.

Weight and momentum cannot be used against a non-moving enemy so it's a little bit of a challenge.

"You seem to know a lot about this. Correct?"

'Heh, of course I do!' he grins widely and steps forward. 'The name's Wade Wilson! You might have heard of me as "That guy who's godlike at everything he does", "By far the sexiest guy in Yamaku" or "The manwhore with a mouth". I'm not sure I like that last one, though!' Wade introduces himself and offers his hand.

[WHOOPS-I TOOOoootally forgot about this post and wondered when you'd respond! My apologies. XD]

He clearly has a cocky way of carrying himself.

WHOOPS-I accidentally triped that tower of self absorbency! Very Happy

"Actually I've never heard of a guy by your name."

Too easy.

Of course that is the truth but altered to fit my needs.

I have acutally heard of him as 'The Manwhore With A Mouth' as well as 'The Flaming Faggot,' and 'Retarded Lightning,' and of course my favorite 'The Grumpy Old Troll Who Lives In The Closet;' but I've never heard of a Wade Wilson.

The creative but the most awful names I've ever heard in my life given to him so far seem to be very unfitting. He's a little bit of a loud-mouth and doesn't know his place much, but I have to admit that there is a charm to him.

In short, I actually kinda like the guy.

I wonder how he holds such an ego when he's bullied so much. He's either really stupid or really mentally powerful.

Maybe a little of both in certain mental areas?

Regardless he is indeed interesting.

My hand responds to his movement automatically. Grabbing his hand with a good grip but not like a death grip and shaking it up and down just once.

"Salve, my name is Satoshi Veach."

I point my kendo stick at the others like it.

"Could you spar me?"

I don't doubt his ability for this.

For some reason, he seemed much more sincere when saying he is skilled with kendo than I'd expect someone with an ego the size of an 18-wheeler.

I just really want more of a challenge than this punching bag.

[No worries! I considered writing you a PM to remind you, but I wasn't sure if you were ignoring the RP because you forgot or because you didn't enjoy it, and I didn't want to annoy you. Glad to see it's the former!]

'Well, you've heard of me now!' Wade grins widely. 'And of course I'd spar you! I was looking for a challenge anyway! But... You might wanna switch your bokken for a shinai. Let me translate that so a noob like you would understand - you should switch your wooden sword used for practice with a bamboo blade used for matches. And it might be a good idea to change into gear, since I'm gonna deliver you the beatdown of a lifetime!' he gives a thumbs-up, showing that he has no bad intentions behind his last comment.

And for one who shows little respect, he does treat other guys like men.

I've never went out for the soul purpose of drinking and don't think I ever will but I get the feeling that if I ever wanted to, this guy would be the best to ask for a broment like that.

I look down at my stick and think:

Well shit, bro. I forgot about that crucial detail!

"Of course. My style is not that of a weakling's."

I wonder exactly what kind of person I am going up against.

Lets find out exactly how much fire is in your heart, Mr.Nukem.

"Hey, I don't know the rules of kendo entirely when it comes to the fouls and what exactly you're supposed to yell when you hit so how would you like to just skip those and play-..."

I clear my throat before returning with a grin.

"-prison rules."

This fits my style much more.

To put protective gear on a target of mine is to sign a challenge of 'hit me first and in the best way possible by almost any means necessary because I will not get all that hurt.'

The same thing happened with Yuriko when I 'fenced' her.

She's the one who had awaken me to the possibilities prison rules presents.

'Hmm...' Wade places his hand on his chin and starts thinking. 'Well, you can't really call it "Kendo" if there are no rules... After all, "Kendo" is all about the rules' he explains calmly as he walks over to the shinais placed in the box nearby. 'BUT, if we're willing to ignore the "kendo" part and just beat the shit out of each other in a match where anything goes...' the boy grins and reaches inside the box with both hands, then takes out two blades and assumes a fairly nontraditional two-sword stance. '...Then I accept your challenge!'

Well fuck my ass and call me Lolita-I'm a single sword user. I need flexibility if I'm going up against an opponent like that.

I grab myself a second sword as well.

Tonfas taught me much about dual wielding but using it with swords is not my style even if I seem to be comfortable with any weapon style.

I still have experience in single unlike double. It was rare for my brother and I to have more than three toy swords at a time so I often had to only use one.

I begin to size up my opponent.

He is a little shorter than me but he also is a little stocky in body type.

Clearly not Asian by looks and body type.

I put myself in a unique stance. Standing to the side with my weapons at the ready but different.

My right arm in the front points the business end downward while my hand is upside down.

My left arm has it's weapon to an upper degree but no more than around 40°.

I must be cautious of this one.

My face shield may not cover my look completely but it obscures my face enough to hide most of my emotion. Something I slowly start beginning to lack.

The transformation of my consciousness starts and I feel more like how a monster must feel.

The happy-cheery Satoshi is now morphed into a knight of the Gothic Order.

And so I find myself waiting in silence for the okay to start.

[Sorry for the late response, but I had some personal stuff to take care of, and I couldn't be around too much]

Wade grins widely and swings both shinais a few times in his hands, showing off his skills, then assumes his stance. 'You ready? I'm not gonna hold back!' he explains, then waits a few seconds for his opponent to get ready before shouting loudly and lunging towards Satoshi. All those years of training in various sports, as well as his natural prowess for physical activity, truly pay off - his speed is incredible, giving his opponent very little time to react.

[N'worries, mate. We all got personal lives.]

He's fast!

He's also wide open in the front but my stance is only meant for countering or deflecting blows. No good!

I silently curse my style as I make my move. Quickly dashing forward to block the attacks on my left and right. I use my natural ability to work all my muscles to enhance my blow to Wade's chest with my own. This doesn't do much against him but it considerably helps counteract his momentum.

I'm blown back and on my back. Using the momentum to my advantage I role backward and get on my feet, ready.

*Deep, loud inhale*

"HUOAAAH!!!"

My reaction like that of a Montague. 'T'is but a scratch-a scratch, I tell you!'

I show my natural prowess for battle simply by taking my stance.

No flashy twirls or anything. Making use of the little time I have to prepare.

This time I take a stance to protect against this new style I've encountered.

Definitely as good if not better than Yuriko.

My stance is my left to my fore this time. Legs further apart than usual to hold back any backward force.

Left sword -20° pointed toward my right side.

Right sword low and pointed straight so if he leaves his front open again he is done.

The one thing about fighting me is you do not fight a man with weapons, you fight someone who goes as far as sometimes addressing them as 'extensions of the human mind's will.'

It's more like a game of what will he or she do next and how can I take advantage of that and hit where they don't expect.

As I study my opponent I become better against that opponent like a colony of bacteria.

This means I need to either be out-thought, out-gunned, or finished quickly. Right now I am out-gunned in training and a little bit in natural combat prowess.

My only advantage is a dominating mind over Wade's.

Like the perfect match up made in Heaven.

I also study this up myself in my mind.

This is going to be fun...heheh..heheheh

The laughter carries on outside of my consciousness. First quietly and then quite audible.

"Heh..heh heh...heheheheh-*inhale*-heheh hehahahaha!-*inhale*-hahahahaha! I can already tell this will be fun!"

My laugh may sound like an act of insanity for fear but I am generally both excited and happy enough to laugh. Since it truly isn't funny but instead a laugh of joy it ends up generally sounding like a lunatic's celebration.

Wade grins and jumps back before assuming yet another stance - this time, the shinai in his left hand is held diagonally in front of him, to easily deflect any oncoming attacks, and the one in his right hand is pointed slightly towards Satoshi, ready to attack. 'Hey, what's up with that laugh?' he asks, kind of confused. 'Oh well, if anything, you'd make a nice supervillain!' Wade laughs before lunging forward, this time aiming for Satoshi's left hand. If he hit, the strength of the strike against his unprotected hand would almost certainly render it useless for the remainder of the match.

I don't think about it much and just let instinct swing my left weapon at an upper angle to the side while moving my arm back to get my hand out of the way and connect with the attack.

Open in front if you don't use your other stick. The point to dual weapons.

My right arm thrusts forward and to the side to block any interrupting attack from my right.

Going for the cheek area

Strategic retreat, is an excellent strategy to use. If Wilson either drops his pride and take a movement back or is able to counter my move then I will truly be going up against someone special.

Bottom line, novices or people without a clue into the art of war usually wouldn't do either so he shouldn't have much trouble.
