[OPEN] A Late Night Tea Party Empty [OPEN] A Late Night Tea Party

Post by Sayuri Motozaki Mon Jun 17, 2013 1:01 am

It's no good. I can't get to sleep. There's too much weighing on my mind.

With a weary sigh, Sayuri slips out of bed and gets into her wheelchair, being very careful not to wake the still-sleeping Chihiro. It is late at night and most of Yamaku's students have already gone to bed, but Sayuri is not sleepy. Usually, if she could not sleep it was due to her legs aching, but now it was down to stress; everything that was going on at Yamaku at the moment. Fortunately, she knew just what to do.

As silently and carefully as possible, she wheeled her way out of the dorms and into the main building, to the tea room. She had been here once before, on a late night when she had been unable to sleep. That time, she had drifted off to sleep fairly quickly and had to be escorted to her dorm room by Yuuji, who had then been forced to stay the night in her room.

It is not until she is almost at the tea room that she realizes she needs someone accompanying her, as on that day, to wheel her back to her bed once she falls asleep, otherwise without her alarm to wake her up, she may well oversleep and miss the start of the school day. Well, it's now worth turning back now...oh God, I hope someone else shows up...or maybe someone will already be in there like last time...

Sayuri enters the tea room; it appears to be empty but in the darkness it is hard to tell. She gets the ingredients from the cupboard and sets about preparing a cup of soothing camomile tea for herself.

About a minute after Sayuri, Wade enters the room dressed in his casual clothes. His face, weary and serious, looks nothing like his cheerful and carefree persona. However, he only keeps this expression for a few seconds, and grins widely as soon as he notices Sayuri. 'Whoah, I could've sworn there wasn't anyone in here!' he says as he comes inside the room and walks up to her. 'What are you doing inside the school in the middle of the night?!?'

Sayuri looks blankly at Wade. "Making tea." she says. "What about you?"

'Oh, I was just... Y'know, same. Couldn't sleep, so I, uh...' Wade just stands there, unsure of what to do. 'I can go away if you want'

"No, it's fine." Sayuri carries on with the tea preparations, setting out an extra cup for Wade.

'Thanks' he smiles and takes the cup, then pulls a chair and sits down on the table. 'I didn't catch your name, which is kinda weird considering I've been actively stalking most girls living on campus'

Stalking? Ordinarily this would have rung alarm bells for Sayuri and she would have questioned Wade further, but presently she was too tired. "My name is Motozaki. Sayuri Motozaki." She performs her customary bow. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance. And you are?"

'Wade Wilson, the manwhore with a mouth, bla bla bla' he said nonchalantly and drank some of his tea, feeling too tired to do the proper routine.

Wilson...ah, yes, I've heard that name. Sayuri blows on her tea to cool it down a little and takes a sip. She lets out a contented sigh. "Just what I needed."

Wade sighs. "Well, this is quickly going nowhere... Better change the topic quickly before she pepper sprays me and calls security" he thinks to himself as he turns around and looks out the window. 'So, uh... Have you heard about all the stuff happening in the school?'

"I mean Veach-san. He's one of the few people I've known since-" Sayuri is about to say "since I was confined to this wheelchair" but stops herself. "...since a long time ago that I could consider a friend...and he was injured, and then kidnapped. I hear he's returned, but even so...I also hear that his girlfriend is still in captivity. I heard something about Nakagawa-san as well...I've talked to her a few times, she's a nice person, if a little tactless on occasion." Sayuri sighs heavily. "I never thought things things like this would happen here...to people I know...I hope these bastards rot in hell." Sayuri, having been brought up not to swear, reflexively covers her hand with her mouth and mutters, "My apologies", looking ashamed. Even when I'm so tired I'm still working myself up...it's not good for you, Sayuri. Just relax.

'Oh yeah, Veach. Well, the guy is fine. Lemme tell ya, he's a lot tougher than he looks!' Wade grins. 'Nakagawa? You mean Sumiko Nakagawa, from 3-3? What does she have to do with anything?'

After Sayuri apologizes, Wilson waves his hand. 'Don't worry about it, I'm with ya. Those bastards truly believe that they're doing the right thing. I sincerely fail to understand how pumping someone full of cybernetics can be considered "good" by any definition of the term... I mean, if it'll cure some illness, like, I dunno, cancer or something, then sure, go nuts and make as many cyborgs as you want. But taking normal, healthy teens and turning them into machines... It's sick. Guess nobody learns their lesson and history just keeps repeating itself...' he sighs and leans back.

'You mean you didn't know?!?' Wade asks, genuinely surprised. 'That's what Veach and Cook claim. They actually met some of the cyborgs - fully-body conversion, except for the top of the head. Everything was replaced with metal, including their limbs. Kinda freaky if you ask me. Then again...' he thinks for a moment. 'If all else fails I suppose they can at least fix your legs'

Fully-converted cyborgs? Those must be the missing students from the bulletin board... "God, that's terrible..." Fix my...legs? Sayuri cannot help glancing down at her legs as Wade mentions this. Could they really do that? But then...it wouldn't be me...it would be some machine...and if Wilson is right, they'd take my legs, then my arms, and then the rest of me...God, I can't imagine that...

Sayuri shakes her head. "No. I'd rather have these crippled legs forever than have them taken from me like that. They may not work as I want them to - as least not for the time being, I hope - but they're a part of me, and I'd no sooner give them up than my eyes or my spleen."

'Well, in any case, I wouldn't recommend that you go to them for a surgery like that. They sound like friggin psychos! Worst part is, I'm probably going to meet them soon myself. Our investigation's making some pretty damn good progress. I'm guessing we'll be launching the Kuriko rescue operation in the next few days... But...'

'Yeah, we've been investigating this case since the very beginning. The police are useless. If we let them know about this, they'll alert the bad guys. We need to do this on our own'

Wade sighs once Sayuri asks him. 'Well, it's probably nothing at all, but... I've been having this dream for the past few nights. The same dream, every time. In it, I... I'm killed by one of my allies. Like, seriously killed. I can feel my life fading out, my heart stopping and my lungs refusing to work... It's the worst feeling in the world. And then I wake up. I know it sounds really stupid, but I've never had dreams this intense... And it's the same one every night, too. It's like... Something's trying to warn me that if I go there, I'll die'

"That's...certainly rather strange." remarks Sayuri. "If I were in your position I'd probably be scared as well. But...dreams are just dreams. They can't really predict the future or tell us what's going to happen, even if they are recurring." Sayuri takes another sip of tea and sloshes the remains around the cup, thinking. "You say that in this dream, you're killed by one of your allies...do you know whom exactly?"

'Not really' he shakes his head. 'All I know is that it's an ally. Someone just stabs me in the back when I least expect it. It hurts like hell. I dunno, as I said, I've never really had dreams like that before. I mean, I've had plenty of dreams where I die, but never this vivid, never so painful. That's... kinda why I'm up tonight. I'm just afraid that when I go to sleep, I'll go through that dream again...'

"I see..." How interesting...I'm here to try and fall asleep, and he's here to try and stay awake. Speaking of which... Sayuri stifles a yawn as the camomile tea begins to do its job of relaxing her enough for sleep to take hold. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply that your story was boring," she says suddenly, "because it isn't. I'm just...starting to get sleepy. That's why I'm here...so I can relax myself with a nice cup of tea and get some sleep."
