"That seems fair enough-" As he states this he notices Chiharu's difficulty with the bag in her off hand. He looks back toward her and asks the following.

"I could carry that for you if you'd want."

"Yeah, I could use a bit of a break from it, if only for a short while."
She hands him the bag, then shortly after says, "I would have switched which hand was holding it, but it's already kinda pre-occupied." and as she is saying this, she swings the held hand back and forth to demonstrate.

Izumi chuckles before continuing on. "I believe that's clear enough for all to see. I'll just relieve you of it for now then, it's not much further now anyway."

"For that I am grateful, any minute now my stomach could decide to-"

Grumble... and that it did as soon as he attempted to mention it a sound that is audible within the relative silence could be heard. The sound of hunger pangs.

"Growl..."

Chiharu giggles at the suggestability of Izumi's stomache before playfully stating, "Let's just hope you get the hang of quickly. Or else your stomache just might stage a coup."

"Et tu Chiharu..." Izumi states jokingly as he turned to her for a second. They cross the courtyard by this time and head toward the dorms once more.

Chiharu lets go of Izumi's hand so she could walk through without having to do so awkwardly. As she walks by she says to sumiko quietly, "thanks", and continues down the hall towards sumiko's dorm, assuming the others would follow not far behind her.

Izumi walks by not soon after also giving Sumiko his gratitude and continues forward. He shifts the bag to his now freed hand as he goes toward the dorm.

After closing the door behind her, Sumiko dashes in front of Chiharu and rummages through her pockets for the key to her room.
Ah found it...
Once at her door she swiftly opens it
"come on guys. I'm really hungry now."

<Now to remember how to make these things myself...>

As they walk into the kitchen chiharu begins slowly looking around and speaking in a soft, yet deliberate, tone.

"So, to start off, we're going to need a pot and a large bowl both filled with water, aand another bowl to mix the batter in. Speaking of batter, *She looks towards Izumi* could you measure out 100 and 150 of the shiratamako and the silken tofu, respectively?"

She then does what she can to help sumiko with the bowls and pot.

"Can we use the same bowl that we use for the water for the batter as well? I only have one. Would it make a difference?"
She says talking out the bowl

" I don't want to be a pain, however I am not sure what measurement the 100 and 150 you're asking me is in. All I have are numbers without units. May I have the units please?"

Izumi asks somewhat cautiously, as he had begun to work before realizing the lack of units.

"Sorry about that. The most convenient unit would be grams, but you can convert the ratio of 1 to 1.5 to whatever unit you want... Oh, and I almost forgot, add a teaspoon of sugar to that as well."

"Roger, roger" This was the only thing that came out in response as he had begun working as soon as he got told what units to use. He also adds the sugar as prescribed as he measures the items out respective in the order told.

Izumi chuckles for a second and shakes his head.

"It was an affirmative, that's all it was. I heard it once somewhere, don't mind me..." after that he simply returns to his work a bit more focused than before after his supposed "error". After doing what he was told to do he looks back at them to tell them.

"All right, what do I do next after measuring them out?"

Chiharu grabs the bowl sumiko just got out of the cupboard and walks over next to Izumi to set it on the counter in front of him.

"Put it in here"

She then takes a step back to look between the two of them as she raises her hands in front of herself and flail her fingers in a short burst of excitement.
"Now... who wants to get their hands dirty!?"

In a very contrasting tone of just simple contentment, Izumi merely states: "I might as well, this is what I arrived for." He sets the items he parted into the bowl and seems as if he was awaiting a direct order. His body language seems as if it knew what to do, but it appeared as if he was holding back for assurance. It was quite rare to see him jump the proverbial gun even if he guessed exactly what to do.

<What is he waiting for?>

Chiharu playfully nudges Izumi as she says, "It's not going to hurt you... It's kinda like what you do with clay to get all the bubbles out of it."

Re: [Private] Cook's Corner.

Post by Izumi Inaba on Mon Aug 26, 2013 11:16 pm

Izumi takes her comment as a command to proceed. Then, he simply just begins kneading the items in the bowl. The dough, as it were felt as if it was taking form. As Chiharu had alluded to, it's consistency was of that of clay. Not the hard sort for tennis courts or pottery, but the one his mother used to allow him to play with when he was a small child. The dough had to be worked about a bit until it became much softer and easier to work with. After a while as soon as it became much easier to work with, Izumi looked up once more. He knew that he had the habit of "looking lost" often when he was in the middle of doing something new. The nudge earlier reminded him of this.

"I pause a lot for a reason, you know. For instance, I am of the belief I should divide this dough into small pieces to subsequently roll them. This is only an assumption, and I much rather not make any mistakes I could avoid. I don't usually work off what I assume when applicable." He stated this with not much context, simply a passing word as he started to pause again.

Chiharu shrugs slightly while blinking slowly before saying, "Yeah, that's right, but before we do that, we have to make sure the consistency is right."

She reaches in to the bowl to grab a couple fingers width of dough. After rubbing it between her fingers, she lets out a smile and hands it to sumiko.

"Miraculously, we got it right on the first try. Usually you have to play around with adding a little bit of water or more shiratamako to get it to be as smooth it's supposed to be. But how it is right now is what we are aiming for, as soft as your earlobe, pretty much."

Sumiko takes the bowl and sets it down before touching her earlobe
"Soft..."
She turns to Chiahru
"Now what should we do? to the oven?"
