Ellie Wilson

Post by Ellie Wilson on Mon Jul 29, 2013 2:35 am

NAME: Elena "Ellie" Wilson
AGE: 6
CLASS: Elementary Schooler

APPEARANCE: Ellie is every bit as beautiful as her mother, with long, blond hair and the most adorable smile! Her most notable feature are her huge, white eyes, which immediately give the way the fact that she's completely blind. She prefers not to wear shades, though always carries a pair on her if she senses that whoever she's speaking to is feeling uncomfortable. Ellie's usually seen carrying around and using a crimson-red cane, just like the one used by Daredevil, her favorite superhero - the cane was a gift from her uncle. She's just about a meter high (~40 inches), which is pretty average for her age. Just like her mom, she prefers to wear dresses when possible, and also has an extreme dislike for socks, preferring to wear flip-flops and sandals instead of regular shoes with socks.

BACKSTORY:
Conception and Birth:
In 2015, a young college graduate named Inna Wilson was looking for a way to make some quick and easy money... without resorting to prostitution or drug trade. Eventually, a friend of hers set her up as part of an experiment performed in her university. Its purpose was simple, yet revolutionary - one of the scientists claimed to have found a way to use specific radiation waves to alter a fetus' genetic code in-utero in whatever way he wants during the first week of pregnancy, thus possibly eliminating genetic disorders altogether. His theoretical tests proved to be successful, and he was given permission to conduct a human experimentation using a surrogate mother. Wilson was that mother.

Once all the necessary documentation was in order, the doctors procured some sperm from a bank (which, just like most other samples) belonged to an anonymous Mensa member, and used it to inseminate Wilson. After that, they used the radiation treatment, intending to change the baby's eye color to green (since both Inna and the father have blue eyes, that was considered a reliable way to determine whether or not the radiation worked, since the chance of a recessive gene for green eyes suddenly becoming dominant naturally was incredibly small). Weeks became months, and before long, the baby was finally born, only to reveal the terrible news - the treatment hadn't worked.

The little girl wasn't born with green eyes or blue eyes - they were white. She was completely blind. Of course, the experiment was branded as a complete failure, the doctor was fired and the research was discontinued. As a result, they didn't know what to do with the baby, and Inna was allowed to take it in and raise it herself. She named her Elena, after her deceased older sister.

Childhood:
Since her mother was extremely busy with work and couldn't spend a lot of time with her, Elena (or Ellie, as everyone called her) usually spent most of the day with her grandmother Vanessa and her teenage uncle Wade Jr. While Ellie was growing up, Vanessa began noticing signs that her mental and even physical development (in certain areas) was unnaturally quick - the little girl could already walk without support when she was nine months old and spoke her first words a few weeks before her first birthday. By the time she became two years old, she could already write (albeit in quite a childish manner because of her age and blindness), speak in full sentences and play with toys intended for older children despite her disability.

Her family immediately recognized that the child was a genius and tried their best to stimulate her intellectually. Wade learned braille specifically so he could teach it to her, thus showing her how to read. On the other hand, her grandmother began teaching her Japanese, which was about the only thing she felt comfortable teaching. By the time she was five, Ellie could already speak fluent English, Japanese and Bulgarian (which she only used to relay secret messages to her mom, for obvious reasons), and she had already read dozens of books intended for much older children. Inna often suggested to enroll her into school early, or to at least hire a tutor, but Ellie rejected both options, as she was ashamed of her blindness despite her incredible intellect.

Throughout her life, the little girl spent the most time with her uncle, and thus has grown to love him immensely, even going as far as to pick up some of his mannerisms subconsciously despite the fact that she has never even seen them. She was incredibly upset when her grandfather sent Wade Jr. to study in Japan, and closed within herself for a little while, mostly spending her time reading whatever books in braille she could get her little hands on. Soon after she turned six, Inna got a job offer in the city next to the school where Ellie's uncle was studying, and offered her daughter to move. The little girl was overjoyed at the prospect and, even though she would be missing her grandparents, she still accepted wholeheartedly.

Although the trip to Japan was exhausting, Ellie found out it was totally worth it - the air just smelled different to her! Not to mention, she could finally be with her beloved uncle! Not only that - Inna found out that there was an elementary school for disabled children right in the city, with a class specifically for blind students. With some persuasion, Ellie finally agreed to begin attending.

PERSONALITY: The most important thing to know about Ellie is that she is WAY smarter than most other children her age, so she tends to behave a bit more maturely than her peers. She's still cute, innocent, naive and adorable, but she also tends to act and talk like a child that's about twice her age, so she shouldn't be underestimated (she really hates when people start talking to her as if she's a baby). However, that doesn't mean she won't usually behave like a little girl - she'll still get embarrassed and start blushing when something awkward happens, and won't hesitate to burst into tears when she's upset. Just like any intelligent child, she tends to be extremely curious and will often ask questions, to the point of becoming annoying (but if that happens, it means she's REALLY interested in you). She's not particularly interested in physical activities, so she'll often decline requests to participate in those.
