APPEARANCE: He's rather tall, around 1.8 m, but you can't tell because he's always on his wheelchair. His white hair and his heterochromic eyes, blue and red, are probably the first thing that make him stand out, aside from his feminine appearance. He usually bears a calm expression on his face, a soft smile and a clean skin. He is not too pale nor tanned, but does give out a weak look on the outside. He likes to be clean and tidy, so his hand and feet nails are always polished and cut to perfection. His shoulder length hair is straight and always combed, giving a pure and clean look to him. He's often mistaken by a girl if looked from the back, not because of his clothes though, which are usually a plain t-shirt or shirt and shorts. During winter he likes to wear a scarf and gloves, even indoors, but never a hat or cap. He won't ever use glasses of any kind either. He wears the school uniform whenever he's in class, but likes to change every afternoon into more casual clothes.
BACKSTORY: Katsuo was born in a middle class Japanese family, consisting of his father, mother and older sister, Kamiko. At birth, he already possessed his characteristic hair and heterochromic eyes, red for right and blue for left. This wasn't a major problem, heterochromia , although it was caused by lack of melanin in the late months in the womb, it didn't affect his eyesight, arriving at the conclusion that he didn't inherit it but lost part of the eye pigments before birth, and his white hair wasn't related to albinism, so he didn't have any skin problems, but it did stand out among other children because of them. His parents were almost never at home, due to their work, so his Kamiko looked after him for most of his life. He spent his childhood with his sister and the kids of their neighborhood, not being able to befriend anyone outside the small established circle. When he started elementary school, all his previous 'friends' started drifting apart, until he was completely alone, what made him a little introverted. He has always been mistaken for a girl because of his feminine looks, which put him in quite a lot of trouble during middle school, where kids would always bully him. His only friend was a girl named Akiko, who understood he wasn't just a girly boy, but a perfectly normal kid, rather nice and caring in fact. She was very important to him, and their relationship grew each day they spent together. But she suddenly had to move at the beginning of the last middle school year, leaving him alone once again. She kissed him and promised that she'd be back when she was done with high school, to be his girlfriend. And so she left, leaving him her cellphone number and her email address. His older sister would always protect him whenever someone bothered Katsuo, and he really appreciated it, but he started to see that far from making them stop, it was encouraging the bullies to continue harassing him. So he asked Kamiko to leave them be, and promised he'd take care of them himself. He talked to those kids that were always bothering him, and asked them what they wanted to make them stop. They said there was no way they'd stop such a funny hobby. He tried persuade, to no avail. So he turned to his teacher to ask for advice. He just ignored the matter saying that those were kids things, and they should sort them out themselves. A few weeks later, when the other kids found out about the teacher being warned, they made Katsuo trip and pushed him down the staircase. He fell on his back, breaking a few bones and paralyzing him from the hips down. There was no major damage on the spinal cord, but his legs were useless, he couldn't move either of them. He spent months in the hospital because of the slow recovery, having no one except his sister to pay him visits. He texted and sent mails to Akiko, and she answered them, vaguely, and never came to actually see him. He felt like he had been abandoned, but still had some hope. He decided to go on talking to her, to give her another chance. He'd wait until she gave him a proper answer. And of course he'd insist on her coming to see him whenever she was able to. When he was about to leave the hospital, he was informed that he'd be transferred into Yamaku. His parents were always busy and couldn't take care of him at home, and Kamiko was about to start university, so it was his only option. He felt relieved of hearing that he wouldn't be coming back to any place near those kids, and he would have the chance to start anew in this high school, which he had heard was perfect for disabled kids. He felt that his life would start once again in this new place, but he was a bit worried because it had been a long time since he last spoke to someone aside from his sister or his parents from time to time, since their work prevented them from visiting much more than on certain special occasions. They even missed his birthday due to being working abroad. In the end, he got out, being dependent on a wheelchair at all times, because his parents weren't able to pay for any of the high-tech implants medical science had developed to date. This hasn't been a problem since he never really did any sports activity, and he's fine as long as he has a good manga with him to read peacefully.
PERSONALITY: He is a bit shy but really calm and well mannered, always keeping a smile even in the most awkward situations. The fact that he's been almost alone for his whole life hasn't affected his social skills, he can still manage to talk to anyone with little trouble, but won't generally start a conversation with anyone, even with a close friend, for fear of being rejected or hated. He is honest but intelligent, he will lie if it's necessary, not that he likes to do it, but if it's for someone's sake he'll probably do it. His grades have always been top notch, but he doesn't consider himself a genius or an overly smart kid, he's modest and caring, always looking out for others and helping when necessary. His disability merely makes him unable to move as fast or reach places he'd be able to, so it isn't much of a bother to him since he never was the athletic type. He loves reading, specially manga, and will enjoy a nice anime every now and then, but he'd love someone to share them above anything. He won't ever show weakness even when he is feeling down because he got used to being beaten up about those kinds of things, so he'll have a smile for everyone at almost anytime. He's not very good with computers because he recently got interested in games and started looking into it, but hasn't quite gotten it yet.

[EDITED]: I'm sorry about the grammar, English's not my main language, so I can't help but do as best as I can. About the legs it was specified in his appearance, but I added a little bit to the backstory. And I couldn't really add too much to his feelings about Akiko being distant, just his hopes for her to come back some day. I'll probably wrap things up when the character grows a bit, maybe if some girl shows up (?)

Added some heterochromia stuff up there, wasn't easy to piece together, I hope it's a valid explanation. Also parents' work was added to the ending of the backstory, didn't put much thought into it because his sister was more important to him as she looked after him. Added that too

There might be a few grammatical errors and a few points to nitpick on. However since we've not much picked at this here, there is no reason for me to begin a tradition that never existed. I would like a little more information on the current state of his legs to see if he'll need a wheelchair to accompany him or similar. It is also a little unclear to how he feels about Kamiko's increasing distance from him and his reaction to her being vague and distant.

I'll approve it, with a little nudge towards perhaps adding this information just to clear it up a little in case the next administrator feels more sharply on these matters.

On the whole I think this is a good application, but I was left wondering how he got the Heterochromia? Hereditary, or some underlying disease? Usually the lack of melanin is due to inherited traits from parents, a disease or condition, or an injury. It's not a vastly important detail but I was interested.

Also how come his parents didn't visit him much in the hospital?

On the whole though I think this profile is pretty near approval, just those minor details and I'd approve it.

About the parents, I know I'm being pretty vague, but they weren't there for most of his life, so I didn't even bother putting their names there.
