[Open] The Groot of It

Hjork continues striding up the long corridor towards the throne room, cursing under his breath.

"Bloody Christians, interfering with everything.." He mutters, glancing over his shoulder to discover Scott Vitch following him.

"His huhiness is-..wuhs a Christian. Protestant, but Christian."

With a seemingly more animated walk, I slowly gain on the brute-man with speed I estimate will get me close just before we reach the large, ornate, wooden doors.

My armor quite noticebly clanking against itselt.

"Dohn't druhw your weapons unless it is needed. Keep a cool head and wuhtch around yehu for suspicious mehovements."

"Let me do the tuhlking, perhahps they'll listen to a man on ohfficial business with the church here."

"Whuhtever actions yehu take against them may result in unforseen consiquences."

Hjork stops and glares at the man.

"I know how to handle a situation. I'm not the big, ugly,stupid man you think I am." He says with a hard stare. "If we are to work together you must treat me as an equal."

Hjork sighs and continues, "The queen and I get on well. She isn't going to act suspicious of her own son. Even if he is an adopted one."

They reach the doors and Hjork picks up the large iron rung.

"Ready?"

"Thats noht why I'm telling you whut to do!-If you wish for my help you will listen to meh when I speak becuhse I don't fool around at times like this."

"Yehu may noht talk to the queen just yet. She may very well be surrounded by men with thah clergy man."

"If it's clear, go ahead."

'Ready?'

I nod.

Hjork lets out an exasperated sigh.

"I am not fooling around either. Believe it or not I do not want to play game when mine own father has been murdered. I will take your advice, but not your orders."

This paladin doesn't seem to understand that this is my home, my father.

He pushes on the door frame to reveal the ornate throne room.

When court is being held, the room and balconies above would usually be filled with King Raiden's lords and barons and various other members of his court. At the very back of the hall lies a great golden throne, wrought in the shape of a roaring lion's mouth. The tongue - made of soft red velvet - is where the kings sits, with the roof of the lions mouth acting as a canopy for the throne. The intricacy and detail that has gone into the work of art dazzles anybody that enters the room, even if it is the thousandth time they have seen it.

The room is completely empty, save a few whispering attendants, as well as the captain of the guard, a famous warrior by the name of [Whoever chooses to take up the mantle!]

A disappointed "Oh." escapes Hjork's lips.

I point over the guardsman and speak up.

"Yehu theh'! Guahdsman! Would you not hahppen to know where we muhight find her huhighness?"

[God, I should start putting freakin' subtitles on Scott or something.]

[Alright here goes nothing]
Tybalt turns to the two standing proud in his armor and spear
"And who would be asking?"
Saying in a sort of raspy voice he clears his throat

Hjork stands up straight, instantly recognising the captain of the guard who had served his father for many a year.

"I. Tiber Hjork. You serve mine father as the Captain of the city guard, aye?"

Hjork strides toward Tybalt confidently.

Ah, the guahd captain. What good timing!

Hjork, seems friendlehy with him. Best let him do the tuhlking.

I stand near Hjork and watch around the doors.

Tybalt walks closer still keeping his guard up but instantly lowers it seeing Tiber's face more clearly
"Tiber! I didn't recognize ya with all that equipment. Haven't seen ye in since you were a mere child. How is your father doing?"

Hjork's face contorts in confusion.

"He's... dead, Tybalt. He was assassinated. I assumed you were to be put in charge of leading the investigation?!"

Tybalt also in confusion
"This is the first I hear of such news."
He walks a few steps behind Tiber and looks at Scott carefully but subtly before turning back to Tiber
"I'm sorry."

Hjork looks back over his shoulder towards the Captain.

"It is a terrible day for all of Faywyn."

He takes a few steps forward and kneels in front of his father's throne.

"The whole of Faywyn will miss him."

I start to hear footsteps in the corridor we entered the room from.

I close my eyes and listen hard. Diverting all of my attention to that lone sector.

Heavy footsteps....Clanking...it's very heavy ahrmuh'...['nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!'... :3]

Schunt guards.


My hand noticebly shifts to my hammer inside it's sling.

"Make it bruhief, Hjork-we came here for a reason!"

Hjork stands up and nods at Scott, "Aye."

He strides up to Tybalt, and puts a hand on his shoulder, "There is a filthy inquisitor about the castle. He has dirtied mine own name, as well as our Paladin friend here's as well. I need your help to override his rule and let me be free of the castle so I can find my father's killer."

"Your muhthe' should come first, friend."

Without turning my body from the door, I address the guard.

"Guahdsman! Might you know where her huhighness muhight be?"

"Something may come of her sehoon."

"I do.Come, Her highness is just beyond the corridor."
Tybalt points to the right before rushing down in the direction

[Raiden isn't on, I don't think. Maybe he might want to make an entrance now.]

[so....whats the plan?]

[Hell if I know. I figured Raiden might be on today but he could be busy. Maybe wait another day? If he doesn't answer tomorrow or if he says he wants us to continue then we'll continue.]

[I guess Raiden isn't replying.]

Hjork nods appreciatively and follows Tybalt into the corridor.

"Why is she not holding court?"

[let the show go on then]
"Her highness said that she would be in her chambers for the next few days."
Tybalt stops at the end of the corridor looking swiftly around: checking something.

Suhmething is sohw wrong he'e...

I notice the guard stop and look around.

"Whuht's the matter?"

Tybalt Turns around and takes a few steps back into the courtyard
"I'm sorry Tiber..."
He whistles and multiple guards come out from all side but behind the both of them. Tybalt pulls out a dagger from a sheath and displays it.

The moment Tybalt starts to back away, a chill runs down my spine and I start to remove my pavise from my back and hand it to Hjork.

Ahchers are the prime soldiers for an ambush. He has no armuh-no shield.

You're big enough to use one of these like eh large tower shield would be for me.

As fast as my hands can move is the speed at which I draw my smaller shield and my hammer.

What force do you have?

Multiple guards on each side of us immerge.

They're definitely not inquisituh bodyguahds. Less of a threat but they are still royal guahds.

Halberds. Fyew ahchers but there is a presence of them.

A lot of guahds for just two men to fight off-one of which wearing leittal more than something to cover his twiddles.

Wait a second...

I glance behind me. It has been strangly quiet there.

There's nobody behind us!

Of course! There's nowhere for them to hide battle-ready guahds from us thaht close buhy!

They must be on their way...

What happens next depends on the head guahd.

With a raised shield to block just under my eyes, I speak up.

"Iye! Guahdsman! Whuht is the meaning of this and whuht are your chahges! Yehw bring your men close befohre I get an answeh and something may happen that we uhll rehgret!"
