(Open) No Streets Are Safe Empty (Open) No Streets Are Safe

Post by Nayumi Tachibana Tue Nov 12, 2013 4:14 am

After school was over that day, Nayumi decided to stay behind in the library and study for a few hours before going home. After all, the exams before the winter break were steadily approaching, and her constant absence due to illness wasn't doing her any favors. She warned her father about this, and he didn't seem to mind - his only condition was that she would call him when finished so he could go and pick her up. By the time Nayumi was done for the day, it was already around seven, and since it was winter, the streets were already dark by that point. The girl considered calling her father, but eventually decided against it, not wanting to bother him when it was already this late. And besides - her house in the city wasn't that far anyway, and since that day was one of those rare ones in which she actually felt good, Nayumi decided to use the opportunity and walk home instead. After grabbing her bag, the girl headed outside and began walking home. She pretty much spent the trip in silence, mostly thinking about the upcoming anime season, and the series that she planned to follow during it.

About half an hour later, Nayumi finally managed to reach the bus stop. Normal students might have been able to reach that destination twice as fast, but then again, the girl wasn't exactly running towards it. When she finally made her way there, she sat down on the bench, eyes firmly focused on the road behind her and carefully watching for the bus to show up from around the corner. Unfortunately, she failed to notice the group approaching from her blind spot. Three boys - all about a year or two older than her and dressed in casual clothing, gradually approached her.

"Hey there, cutie! You alone?"

Nayumi gasped and quickly turned around. The boys didn't look like they were lost. All of them were glaring straight at her, with their faces twisted into a perverted display of satisfaction. Immediately, the girl realized she was in trouble. Her large eyes opened even wider, and her hands began shaking.

"N-no... I... I'm w-waiting for my friends... T-they should be here a-any second now..." she lied to them, her chin trembling. The young girl desperately tried to keep her eyes focused on them, knowing that they might attack her if she looked away, but that was gradually becoming harder and harder, in no smart part due to their constant grinning and chuckling.

"Oh, is that right? Well, we won't be long. Just give us the bag and we'll be on our merry way!"

Instinctively, Nayumi tightened her grip on her bag. So that's what this was about - they were trying to rob her? No, she couldn't let them... She couldn't allow her father to learn about what was going on, or else... "N-no... Please..." she begged desperately as her eyes began filling up with tears. The girl felt her stomach turning. She felt sick, and her head was starting to hurt. Her symptoms, thus far suppressed with medicine and positive attitude, were re-emerging the moment her body went under stress.

"Now, listen here, you little bitch" one of the boys insulted her before pulling some metal object from his hand. One flick of his wrist revealed exactly what it was - a pocket knife. Nayumi shrieked from terror and crawled back on the bench, as if she was trying to escape. The boys laughed and approached her. By that point, the girl was actively crying and sobbing, desperately clutching her bag in her hands in an attempt to retain her belongings. Her chest was gradually tightening as her face started becoming more and more red due to her increasing fever. One of the boys stepped forward and took a firm hold of her bag, then began pulling. "NO!!!" Nayumi screamed, desperately trying to hang onto it, but also feeling her strength fade away little by little. With one final tug, the bag finally left the girl's hands, but not before knocking her down on the ground due to the force with which it was pulled.

"I got it!" the boy yelled and raised it up so his friends could see. With a gesture, their leader indicated that it was time for them to go. Without wasting even a single second, the three of them started running towards the city, leaving Nayumi on the ground, too weak and upset to stand up on her own. The girl felt so sick that she couldn't even scream for help - her heart and lungs felt like they were about to burst, her throat felt sore and her head was pounding. A few drops of sweat formed on her forehead and began dripping down. Nayumi felt like her consciousness was slipping away, but was too weak to really do anything about it - all her medicine was in the bag, and even if it wasn't stolen, she was still too weak to take it. She clenched her fists and kept sobbing, quietly praying that someone will help her before her father calls to ask where she is.

In her time at the school, Chiharu had made a habit of going into town on a regular basis. However, her destinations had become habitual as well. So, today she had decided to stray from the familiar and explore the extents of the town. This ended in her getting quite lost. It didn't bother her in the slightest as it was her plan all along to get lost and find her way back, but she didn't think it would take her nearly as long as it did.

By the time she finally was on her way back to the school, it was already dark and her legs were definitely asking for a break. As she was just contemplating the idea of sitting down on the sidewalk, a scream pierces the cold night air. Alert and unaware of the entire situation, Chiharu looks towards the direction of the cry, but only to hear the hurried footsteps of men charging towards her from around the corner. In the split second she has to react, she simply ducks into an alley way and watches as they file past her down the sidewalk. <Three young men-shorthair/jacket/gloves-baseball cap/longsleeve/bag-Hoodie/grey eyes>

After a few deep breaths, Chiharu ventures forth in search of the rightful owner of the bag in one of the robbers hands. When she approaches the bus stop and sees a girl curled on the ground crying like there's no tomorrow, she dashes forward to her. Taking off her thick over shirt, draping it around Nayumi, and crouching next to her. She tries her best to help Nayumi up on to the bench and off the cold cement ground.

Nayumi spent about a minute curled up on the floor, crying and sweating under her own fever. As much as she wanted someone to come, she simply knew that it was impossible - it was late, and that particular part of town was practically deserted. The girl gasped from surprise when she suddenly felt someone draping a piece of clothing over her - probably a jacket or some kind of thick shirt. Nayumi turned her head around - her vision was blurred, yet it seemed like some black-haired girl had come to her aid. Carefully, the girl helped her sit back down on the bench, which wasn't exactly a hard feat considering how underweight she was. "Tha... Thank y..." Nayumi tried to speak, but her fever got the better of her. Even though she tried to resist it with all her strength, her body eventually tumbled to the side, causing her to lie down on the bench.

<Oh fuck, this is bad>
Chiharu quickly took out her phone and called the school's medical emergency line. After darting down the street and back to find a sign, Chiharu finishes the call and returns to Nayumi. However futile the attempt may be, she still sits Nayumi up in the bench and takes the seat next to her with her own arm around Nayumi to make sure she doesn't fall again.

Breathing quickly and shallowly, Chiharu begins saying words of comfort, more for her own sake than for Nayumi's.
"Everything's going to be okay.. Helps on the way.."

Nayumi's entire body was shaking by the time Chiharu sat down next to her. By that point, her temperature had increased, causing her to hyperventilate and swear profusely. Once the girl heard her companion say that help was on the way, she shook her head. "No... Don't call... Please..." she begged Chiharu sadly, not even realizing that the call was already made. If the police or the hospital were alarmed, so would be her father. "I'll be... Fine... I just need...." she closed her eyes and leaned her head on her companion's shoulder, barely trying to stay conscious. At that point, her frail body had gotten so weak that even keeping her eyes open had become an impossible task for her.

"you just need? Need what? what is it?" she says hastily, her panic beginning to get the better of her. But despite the chaos of her feelings she can still feel the extreme warmth of Nayumi's body through the shirts. It was at this point that she remembered the bottle of acetaminophen in her pocket that she keeps with for the pain and she also remembers that it has other uses as well, such as an antibiotic and fever reducer.

Taking out one of the pills, she places it into one of Nayumi's hands and closes it as she says, "Can you take this? It should help. Please just try."

(Open) No Streets Are Safe Empty Re: (Open) No Streets Are Safe

Post by Hideyo Masuda Tue Nov 12, 2013 5:05 pm

The chilly night air causes a sudden shiver in Hideyo as he walks through the streets late at night after another unsuccessful scouting mission for the SCP foundation. He was yet to find a way of worming his way into the school's system so he could properly keep a look out for any suspicious characters wandering the halls. The foundation didn't seem to understand that it was difficult to keep tabs on 682-2 if he wasn't actually in the school.

His latest tactic was to simply spend his free time in the town near to the school, usually inside the Shanghai or wandering the streets. If a thaumiel-class breakout were to occur he could be at the school in mere minutes, although this wasn't nearly quick enough.

After a normal evening, he'd watched the students leave on various buses towards their homes from the Shanghai, and had made small talk with the strange boy in there. The boy himself sparked an interest in Hideyo, his eyes betrayed a lot when his words didn't. When asked about his past life the boy was often evasive and had all of the telltale signs of a liar - quick flashes of emotion, touching of the mouth and hair, et cetera. He made a note to inquire further.

As he left the Shanghai at around 6.30pm, he elected to take the next bus home - nothing out of the ordinary had happened and it had been a quiet night. While he walked through the empty streets he'd noticed a group of young men run past him, towards the direction he was heading.

Maybe they're running late for the bus...

A few minutes later a young girl's scream had pierced the air, and Hideyo broke into a sprint, turning corners and ducking through alleyways in order to find the source of the noise. Perhaps 682-2 had finally gotten out of hand.

He burst into the road to find two young girls together, one with black hear and peculiar headwear, and another, slight figure that was obviously suffering from a fever. As he approached them he noticed the one with black hair produce some pills from her pocket and offer them to the young girl, and his doctor training kicked in.

"Stop!" He called from the street, and hurried towards two. He narrowed his eyes to read the label.

Acetaminophen.

"Don't take those." He said calmly, and came to a stop.

Nayumi's shaking, as well as her own, along with the shock of someone shouting at her, caused Chiharu to jolt in her seat and drop the bottle, sending its contents flying along the hard concrete below them.
Confused and bewildered for a moment, chiharu began stammering before she gathered enough resolve, however minuscule it may have been, to question the man approaching them.
"Wah-why-w... *Inhale* Who are you!"

"Masuda, Hideyo." He replies, kneeling down next to the girls and visually examining the limp, sweating female in front of her. "Do you know this girl?" He asks, clicking his fingers in front of the girls face, attempting to guage her response. She's still conscious.

Sweating, limp, hyperventilation... Possible panic attack, maybe an acute stress reaction... Perhaps a previous medical condition.

It was at this point he noticed she was wearing a green and white uniform.

Great. Yamaku. That points to previous condition.

"Have you called for help?" He asks the other girl, looking up at her.

Her eyes dart around for a second as she tries to take in all that she's done in the past few minutes, all that has happened, before she forces them shut and nods to him while saying, "I.. Ye-yeah, yeah. I did."
After catching her breath and collecting her thoughts, she elaborates on her previous actions.
"I called my school 'cause they have a medical staff and it's nearby but when I noticed that she was shaking I put the shirt around her and then she has a fever so I was going to give her one of my pain meds to bring her temperature down."
As she pauses for a moment to breathe, she looks down at her free hand as she opens and closes it a few times to make sure its still there before looking back to Hideyo with pleading eyes while saying, "I'm so sorry, is she going to be okay?"

(Open) No Streets Are Safe Empty Re: (Open) No Streets Are Safe

Post by Nayumi Tachibana Wed Nov 13, 2013 12:13 am

Nayumi's condition was getting worse and worse by the second. Her non-existent immune system meant that her body had absolutely no way to fight against the ever-increasing fever, which was dulling her senses one by one. She didn't even realize that Chiharu had placed a pill in her palm, and only the position of her curved fingers prevented the medicine from falling on the ground. Nayumi realized that the other girl was trying to tell her something, but couldn't understand exactly what she was saying. The splitting pain in her head prevented her from really focusing on anything, or anyone. She couldn't move, she couldn't speak, she couldn't even think. All she felt was pain, as well as determination to not let herself lose consciousness. The girl knew by pure instinct that if she did, she'd be taken to the hospital, and then her father would be contacted.

It took her a few minutes to realize there was someone else there - an older man, by the looks of it. He wore glasses and had short, gray hair. Or was it black? Something in between? Nayumi couldn't distinguish the color, nor any of his finer facial features. But one thing was for sure - he looked exactly like her father. The young girl sighed from the pain and closed her eyes. So, he had found her after all... "D-dad..." she muttered before crying out from pain, feeling her chest tighten all of a sudden. Her willpower depleted, Nayumi finally let herself go, her mind slipping into unconsciousness as her body went limp on Chiharu's shoulder.

"You have nothing to be sorry for, it's a natural reaction." He explains calmly, referring to the pills.

She DID know her? Perhaps she has an idea on what her condition is.

"However, as a student of Yamaku it's safe to assume she's on medication, and that could possibly contain acetaminophen, and we don't want an overdose. Or even an allergic reaction." He stops for a few seconds as the girl drifts further towards losing consciousness "I'm gonna go ahead and assume she has a condition, do you know what?" He asks, glancing quickly at Chiharu over the rim of his glasses. "Or what set off such a react-"

"D-dad..."

Hideyo frowns. Delusions, or mere confusion?

"Your father isn't here," A cry of pain from the girl, "But I'm a doctor, could you tell me what's wrong?" He asks, just before she slips into an unconscious state.

Well, at least she won't be in pain anymore...

"Help me lie her down." Hideyo asks Chiharu, "On the floor will be fine." He motions for her to deal with the top half of the limp girl's frame.

Chiharu complies with the request, grabbing her under the arms and gently lowering her to the ground. As soon as Nayumi is safely within the care of another, Chiharu's composure ceases. She takes a few steps back, with her right hand over her stomach, and her left periodically clutching her scarf, rubbing the back of her head, or just shaking in the air by her side.
<Run, run, they could be coming back, run. He didn't see the men, he's going to blame me for this. Run! N-n-no no! I can't distract him, I just need to stay still and let him focus on her or else it really will be my fault. Oh god, what if it's too late?>
Upon losing her balance suddenly, Chiharu manages to grab the bench to keep herself from falling, which she then sits down on, pulling her knees in toward her chest.

As soon as the girl is placed on the floor Hideyo leaps into action, while he counts out her pulse rate he makes sure that her airways are unobstructed by feeling her breath on the back of his hand.

Breathing a little shallow. Pulse at 120bpm. Little high but she's in distress.

He glances up to notice the other young girl still in distress.

God dammit. I can't help both of them at the same time.

"'Scuse me, lady? I need you to stay calm." He says soothingly while he moves the unconscious girl into the recovery position, making sure her head is tilted back to allow proper airway ventilation. "Do you have any idea what set her off?"

Chiharu runs her fingers through her hair before blurting out, "How!"
She waves her left arm towards the town and allowing one of her feet to fall off the bench as she says, "How the hell am I supposed to stay calm when three guys just walked up to a young crippled girl and robbed her right out here in the open!"
She then gets up and begins walking away while taking her scarf off and begining to fold and unfold it repeatedly. Only a short moment later she turns straight back towards Hideyo to say, "And now she's going to die out here from her body going into shock from a fucking stress fever! There's nothing you can do to stop that!"

She's panicking. A panic attack.

"Everything is going to be fine!" He says encouragingly, "We've got this under control. This girl will be fine, people with more equipment and better knowledge of her condition than me will be here soon. Everything is fine."

He puts a hand to her forehead to see just how hot she is, and isn't worried that lasting problems will occur.

"The fever isn't that bad." He says with a smile.

Chiharu continues to pace while also keeping her hands preoccupied with her scarf for a few moments before finally sitting back down and covering her headphones with her hands. A few seconds later Hideyo can hear the sirens approaching them and soon after that, the lights as the vehicle comes around a bend.
