Kai Karasawa

NAME: Kai Karasawa

APPEARANCE: Normal seems to describe just about everything when it comes to Kai's general appearance. He isn't too tall or short, nor is he fat or skinny. He is about as normal as it gets. The only exception to this rule, is the presence of his tan skin, a genetic rollover from his Hawaiian ancestry. His black hair, while short, seems to have never seen a comb. This is the result of him never having the time to brush it, so he just kept it short from looking too unruly. The side of his left arm has a rather long scar, the result of a dare gone terribly wrong. When he isn't in his school uniform, Kai likes to wear a pair of tan cargo shorts and a black t-shirt. If it is winter, he will supplement his shorts for a pair of jeans and wear a hoodie.

(I am fully aware the character doesn't look tan in the picture. I could simply not find a tan character. You'll have to use your imagination a bit on this one.)

BACKSTORY:  Kai was born on island of Oahu, to a native Hawaiian mother and Japanese father. If you ask him, this is where he already failed at the first hurdle. You see, Kai was born with semi-severe case of Hemophilia. His mother was to blame for this, as she carried the gene unknowingly. Kai would continue life normally, despite his parents near over-protectiveness of him, until he hit elementary school. Kai was never too careful, even with him fully aware of his disease. Kai would constantly accept dares from his friends at recess, usually resulting in small scrapes and cuts that would still bleed even thought he injury happened hours prior. When he was 8, Kai was to climb to the top of a large tree that was in the schoolyard, and retrieve a girl's balloon that had gotten stuck in it. Being the kind of daredevil he was, Kai readily excepted and began his ascent. Getting up held no trouble for Kai, but getting down did. As he descended, a branch gave away beneath him, and Kai fell, clutching onto the balloon the entire time. A nearby teacher witnessed the event when he had heard something snap. A small crowd had gathered around Kai by the time the teacher had gotten over to him. Kai still held the balloon clutched in his hand, but their was something wrong with it. His arm had snapped and now the bone was jutting out from the skin.

The teacher snapped into action, calling an ambulance, while Kai spotted the girl whom the balloon belonged to. In shock from the pain, Kai asked her what was wrong, and to come get her balloon. Of course the girl didn't make a move, terrified of the scene before her. That face would stay with him pretty much forever.

His stay in the hospital was very eventful, having to have many blood transfusions to make up for the blood he had lost in the accident, and the constant check-ups from the doctors to make sure his arm wasn't still trying to bleed. The doctors had told him his arm would be fine, as he should heal up without issue. However, he had come very close to bleeding out, and another accident like that could do him in. After this episode, his parents became even more protective of him, and now home-schooled him, to keep Kai from accepting future dares. During this time, Kai picked up playing the guitar, more out of boredom then actual interest. Kai had moved to Japan when he was 12, in order for his father to work a very important business. This also marked the return of his normal schooling. Kai knew very little Japanese, as he took more after his Hawaiian side. So for the first few years, Kai behind in his studies. Eventually, he managed to speak mostly fluent Japanese, although he has an accent and still has trouble with larger words. However, when he fell behind, he was initially put into the 'slacker' social clique, and soon he was back to running around with trouble-makers and other sorts of riff-raff. Kai started to grow weary of his parents concerns for his health. He only had a bleeding problem, it wasn't like he was going to fall over and die if he didn't just the right amount of snuggling. By them time he was 15, Kai was outright defying his parents. After yet another stunt, Kai landed himself in the hospital yet again. This time had had cut himself up on some glass, trying to break into an abandoned building. This was when a doctor had suggested Yamaku, so that he wouldn't have to keep going to the hospital so much. His parents readily agreed, thinking that this would both benefit his health, and get him away from the unsavory types he had been hanging around. Kai himself had no disputes about it. No parental supervision? Sounds good.

PERSONALITY: At first glance Kai can be viewed your typical Hawaiian. A seemingly mellow personality, who is generally friendly to everyone. However, once you sepnd some time with his, you see his true qualities. He is brash and careless, constantly gambling his own safety just for what seems to be the thrill of it. He also seems to operate off of a short-fuse, as he can get annoyed fairly easily. What really makes him explode though, is if someone claims that he is too scared of something. This will usually result in him yelling in hawaiian, while putting up his dukes.

Your profile looks good in my opinion. Even though I would've liked to see more info about his life between ages 12 and 16 (puberty is always a really eventful period, especially considering he had to move to a country with a COMPLETELY different culture and language from those in Hawaii, so it kinda seems weird that you glossed over it), I'm still ready to give you my own approval as it is. Only major problem with it is your username. I believe I already warned you that you would be denied if you didn't change "Packy" to your character's name, so it kinda offends me a little bit that you deliberately ignored my advice.

The time period that is glossed over may just need a slight nudge, as Raiden alluded to. Before I can give my own approval, I would like to make sure if this is all the information you would like to provide. If it's truly not important to you, after the bump I can approve it.

I'd like the profiles as filled out as one could get them, whilst one may be adverse to give too much away, one cannot later pull back any details from the past that aren't stated here. I'll take a less rigid approach and ask you personally if you're sure this is all you'd like to provide.

Honestly? I want to add more to the section of his life that I just glazed over, but I couldn't think of anything besides "Kai gets hurt more". That would just be desensitizing his ailment.

Its something that is annoying me.
