Naymi Tachibana
NAME: Nayumi Tachibana
AGE: 16
CLASS: Junior
APPEARANCE: Nayumi is fairly small for her age – she's only 55 inches tall (~145 cm) and weighs 100 lbs (~45 kg). Her body frame makes her look younger than other girls her age. Her light-brown hair is generally kept short, and even though it's being cut by a professional, it doesn't appear to be styled in a particular way. Her face is average for a Japanese girl – she's not ugly by any means, but she's also not the type boys would lust over. Her most notable facial feature are her huge, brown eyes, which are overly expressive to the point of always betraying her true feelings regardless of her intentions.
Underneath her clothing, Nayumi looks as if she's malnourished – she's very small and thin, and is so underweight that her ribs are easily visible through her skin. Her skin tone is also unhealthily pale, due to the fact that she almost never leaves her home. She's also practically flatchested – a fact that she is very conscious of. When it comes to clothing, Nayumi prefers wearing loose clothes, such as dresses and skirts. Since she almost never goes outside except for school, most of the time she's either dressed in her school uniform or in a nightgown, with her favorite one being in pink and white (pictured on her avatar).
BACKSTORY: On June 10th, 2006, Nayumi was born to Takeshi and Tomoe Tachibana in a small hospital in Tokyo. Unfortunately, she was born three months earlier than expected, which eventually led to severe health defects and a practically non-existent immune system, though miraculously, her mind remained unaffected. As a result, the little girl had to spend most of her childhood alone, in the boundaries of a sterile room. She wasn't even strong enough to go outside without getting sick, so going to school, or even out to play, was out of the question. Not only that, her parents (an engineer and a doctor) were both extremely busy with their jobs, as well as with a charity they ran which provided cybernetic implants to people who couldn't afford them, so they rarely had the time to pay much attention to her. Nayumi never particularly minded the loneliness, mostly because she didn't really know what having friends was like. Instead, the little girl took on various hobbies, such as reading, gaming, watching anime and even sewing. However, her one true passion was drawing, and it wasn't uncommon for her to fill a sketchbook up in less than a week. Her parents often stocked her up with materials for months ahead, yet neither of them never really took the time to see what they were used for. Her chronic loneliness would continue for ten long years.
In the summer of 2016, a gas explosion in an apartment building left dozens of people injured, including a nine year old girl by the name of Ichiko Asari, who lost her left arm and eye. Since she was from a working-class family, her parents had no way of buying her the expensive cybernetic implants she needed, even with the insurance that was paid to them. Eventually, they turned to the charity organization led by Nayumi's parents. While they were unable to build a cybernetic eye, Takeshi and Tomoe agreed to graft a bionic arm onto Ichiko. After the surgery, the little girl had to be monitored for two weeks to make sure the prosthetic was working right and wouldn't be rejected by her body. During that time, it was suggested that she live with the Tachibanas so that she'd be constantly under their watchful eye. It wasn't uncommon for patients recovering from surgery to stay over, but Ichiko was unique in that she was the first one who was very close to Nayumi's age. Naturally, the two of them were quickly introduced to each other. Their initial meeting was, admittedly, pretty awkward – Ichiko was still trying to get used to having a piece of metal instead of an arm, and Nayumi had never even spoken to another child before and wasn't quite sure about exactly what to say. But, gradually, the two of them grew closer and closer together and found out they have plenty of common interests. Before either noticed it, they began wasting entire days just talking to each other, playing games together and overall having a good time. By the time the two weeks came to an end, the two had already become best friends.
For the next six months, Ichiko began visiting Nayumi as often as she could. Special arrangements were even made to allow Nayumi to attend Ichiko's birthday in October, which was also the first time she had left the house for an entire day. Naturally, she got really sick after that and needed to be hospitalized for about a week, but regardless, she thought it was worth it. However, everything changed for Nayumi in 2017. Early in the year, her parents got into a horrible car accident which claimed her mother's life, as well as most of her father's body, which he had replaced with cybernetics. This event came as a shock to the little girl – even though she wasn't particularly close to either of her parents, she still loved them, and losing her mother was devastating. Just a few months later, Nayumi lost yet another person she loved deeply when her father insisted on moving out of the city in order to settle in somewhere else. Her protests, begs and pleas were ultimately ignored, which meant that she had to say goodbye to her only friend. Ichiko assured her that they'd always be friends, and that she'd be calling regularly, but that did nothing to help Nayumi's depression. Together, she and her dad moved into the small town next to Yamaku. The stress of all those negative events happening in her life at once took their toll, and the girl needed to be hospitalized again, this time for an entire month.
The next few years passed by rather uneventfully. Takeshi bought his daughter a laptop to allow her to chat with Ichiko, and she soon learned how to use it in order to digitize her drawings. When she was 14, she decided to make a DeviantArt account and upload her art there. Her talent managed to earn her a mild Internet celebrity status, and she was even commissioned to do projects for various Internet personalities, such as title cards for reviewers or promo art for indie developers. She didn't really earn all that much from it, and it wasn't like she really needed the money for something, so she usually spent them on stuff like videogames and anime boxsets. Fact is, she enjoyed the popularity and attention her drawings brought her online a lot more than the monetary gain from them, and that did wonders for her self-esteem, which was practically non-existent up to that point.
Soon after Nayumi turned 15, her body stopped responding to the immuno-boosting pills she was taking. That meant her immune system was strong enough to allow her to finally go outside without getting sick, but also meant she'd need to start taking stronger medicine just to survive. After a few tests, the doctors prescribed her injections, deeming pills and other orally-taken medicine to be either ineffective or not effective enough. Nayumi wasn't a fan of the injections, to say the least – she had a mild case of trypanophobia (fear of needles), and the first few shots she got caused her to burst into tears. Considering the frequency with which she had to get them (twice a week when healthy, and every day when she was sick), she eventually managed to suppress her fear to a more manageable level, though still feels weak every time she's injected. Soon after, her immune system was deemed strong enough to allow her to go to school. This fact made her pretty enthusiastic - thus far in her life, she had been homeschooled by her parents, so a chance to learn from other people while interacting with other people her age certainly made her enthusiastic. Her father agreed to let her, mostly because he was advised that a healthy social life does wonders for the health and because the school itself was specifically created to cater to disabled students' needs, but only if she let him work as a teacher at the school. She agreed. When Nayumi told Ichiko she'd be attending Yamaku Academy, her friend told her that her own parents were considering sending her there anyway, and she'd convince them to do it so that the two can be together again. Overjoyed at this fact, the girl started studying harder than ever, and eventually managed to pass her entrance exams, becoming a second year student in Yamaku.
PERSONALITY: Nayumi tends to be extremely introverted – she often puts people off with her sheer inability to socialize, even if she doesn't mean to do it. Even though deep down inside, she can be pretty energetic and fun to be around, she's only ever shown this persona of hers to Ichiko. When anyone else tries to speak to her, she'll generally act shy and subconsciously attempt to avoid the conversation. Nayumi often can't stand to be in crowds of more than 3 people in the same place and will close within herself until everything around her “settles down” again. It's important to note that most of her social tension disappears when she's online, and she has no problems leading long conversations as long as she's doing it online (which is why she generally prefers giving out her Deadbook handle to friends, rather than her phone number). As stated in her backstory, drawing is her favorite activity, and she'll usually do it whenever she can. While some artists absolutely hate being interrupted while drawing, Nayumi isn't among them – in fact, she generally draws because she doesn't have anything else to do, and will put it on hold if someone needs to talk to her. It's also important to note that she is very self-conscious of her body and her condition, and prefers not referencing either of them in her conversations. As a general rule, the only one allowed to get away with making remarks about, say, her flat chest, is her best friend. Anyone else doing that would simply upset her.

I'll be about ready to approve this, there's just one detail. Whilst it may be relatively obvious that she was home-schooled, to make sure there is no doubt whatsoever, I'd like it to be stated so no-one could miss it.
