[Open] Dawn Swim

Post by Kuriko Hatsuhara on Thu Oct 31, 2013 4:12 am

Kuriko lies in bed, her eyes itching madly, tossing and turning, unable to get to sleep.

In the gloom her eyes open, revealing the bright blue artificial irises, and she looks to her clock.

6:00AM

With a sigh, she gets out of bed and changes into a swimming costume, not bothering to put anything over the top for the short walk to the pool.

A few minutes later, she finds herself lying in the water, floating along peacefully, humming quietly to herself.

Ituki woke up early s usual. He stretched and got dressed. He decided to go practice archery down by the field. As he was walking down, Itsuki heard some noise from the pool and wandered over to investigate. He made his way through the locker rooms and carefully peaked out the door.

Having been unable to sleep the night before, Chiharu decided to fill the time before her class with a new experience. Swimming.

However, on her way over, she saw a boy ahead of her walk in, seemingly unprepared for a swim. So, she investigated by following behind him into the locker room. Her footsteps are nearly silent as she is barefoot and wearing nothing more than a teal single piece swimsuit and a long towel draped around her neck.

She breaks the silence from behind the boy as she says in a soft and quiet tone, but not quite a whisper, "Do you make a habit of watching girls swim?"

Itsuki jumped slightly at the sound of the voice. Did everyone at this school feel the need to sneak up on him? He turned to face his accuser.

"Not usually," he replied smoothly, "It's just that ones swimming at this time of morning catch my interest." He gave Chiharu a contemplative once over. "Now, if you don't mind me asking, who the hell are you?"

Chiharu takes a step forward and replies with her right hand stretched out in front of her self and a small smile on her face.
"Just another girl swimming at this time of morning. Nice to meet you Suijin."

Itsuki grinned and took the hand and shook it firmly. "Nice to meet you, just another girl swimming at this time of morning."

She steps back to where she was standing before and grabs a hold of either end of the towel around her neck.
"So, should I keep this a secret?"

Itsuki gave a one shouldered shrug. "It's makes no difference to me Just another girl swimming at this time of morning." His grin broadened to a full smile. "Your name's too long Just another girl swimming at this time of morning. I need a nickname for you."

"I bet you can think of one Suijin. It can't be that hard."
She then motions to the door behind him and asks, "Now, if you don't mind, I came here for a much more honest activity."

"And I was heading to an honest activity before a suspicious person distracted me," Itsuki replied holding up his bow, "And then I was accosted by you!" He turned to leave and started to walk away but then stopped. He turned around as his face lit up. "Kappa! That's you're new name Just another girl swimming at this time of morning. Kappa."

Chiharu's grip on the towel tightened and she closed her eyes for a moment as Itsuki's exclamations echoed off of the hard walls around her. After taking a short breath, she shrugs and says quietly, "Alright.", before continuing on her way into the main room.

"It was a pleasure meeting you Kappa," Itsuki gleefully called after her. He watched her leave and he realized it really was a pleasure to meet this girl. He badly wanted to find out her real name. He stood there for a moment deep in thought before leaving and heading for the gym.

Leaving the door with just a crack open, Chiharu walks over to the edge of the pool. Staring intently at it, she tosses the towel towards the wall and takes a seat. As she slowly lowers her feet into the water, letting out a quick breath while the thin clear hairs along her leg stand on end from the chill of the water. Even though she does little more than stare into the water before her, it's a look more of contemplation than of fear, despite her feelings.

Upon hearing the sound of a person approaching, Kuriko lifted her head a little out of the water; just enough so that she could see if she recognise the person.

She's that girl that was with Sumiko at the fair...

"Hi." She calls out over the water in a cheery voice, and continues to float slowly in a circle.

Her gaze remains fixed on an arbitrary point in the water ahead of her as she replies while swirling the water around with her feet.
"Hello, you won't mind if I join you, will you?"

Kuriko lets out a sigh.

"I suppose not." She says, rather glumly; not at all like herself.

Chiharu's stare is broken by the response given by the girl floating along the top of the water when she shifts her gaze to look at her in curiosity.

"Are you not sure?"

"I'm not really sure about anything." Kuriko replies, still floating listlessly around her small area of the pool; staring at the ceiling.

Chiharu quietly contemplates her response for a short moment.
<something's obviously bothering her.. But does she need to get it off her chest or just a distraction?.. If I prompt her to talk now I can try to divert it to something different later, but not the other way around>

She then simply asks, "Why's that?"

"Have you ever eaten something you like, but then it got boring when you ate it too much?" She asks, lifting her head again to look at the girl.

"Yeah, I have... But something tells me you're not upset because you're not in the mood for ice-cream."
Chiharu ends her response with a concerned smile.

"I had too much ice cream." She says with a nod, and returns to floating.

"I'm Kuriko by the way. Hatsuhara, Kuriko." Her hand raises and gives a short wave.

<why does every one insist on introducing themselves like that? Maybe I should give it a try.>
"And I'm Chiharu. Kinai, Chiharu."
<That sounded really really stupid, never doing that again>
She then continues to swirl the water around with just her feet as she remains seated on the edge of the pool.
"So... maybe you should try something other than Ice cream."

Kuriko lets out a giggle.

"I'm not sure this particular brand would like that. Might get jealous."

Kuriko stands up, waist-deep in the pool, actually getting a good look at the other girl.

"Metaphors are useful, huh?" She says, thinking about how convenient it was not to reveal all of her personal affairs to somebody directly yet still talking about them.

"yeah... Kinda confusing, but useful nonetheless."
She then pauses for a moment to contemplate how to give advice whilst keeping the metaphor alive.
"Maybe you should put the Ice cream away in the freezer before it melts and is inedible."
