[Private] Christopher Cook

Post by Satoshi Veach on Sun Nov 03, 2013 11:01 pm

"587 Natsu Dr. ..."

I recieved a strange letter with that address written on it.

That isn't the important part, though...

Christopher Cook wrote:Come meet me at the enclosed address. I fear that Eric was just a sample of things to come.
                                   Come alone.
                                                    -Chris
It had been signed with Christopher's name.

People are hunting him, the chances are unlikely that it's anyone else but that doesn't mean they aren't unexistant.

It's a very sketchy situation, however, it is not one I can pass up. The writing seems consitant to the way Chris thinks so it is highly likely to be him or someone who has had time to study him in the past like I have.

But...why is he talking about that blue-haired American that lives around Yamaku? I never showed that I ever gave more than two shits about the kid.

Of course, that's not the case but I've never had an actual conversation with him. Did I even speak to him at all before?

Actually...how do I know his name? Rumors probably but who mentioned him to me?

There was that one dream...but why was he even in it?

Oh well. I'll find out what Cook means soon enough.

Looks like this is it.

I arrive at the destination and head up to the entrance.

Chris, stepping out to take a garbage bag to the dumpster, spots Satoshi. "Hey... I see you got my letter."

Author of the writer being the subject: confirmed.

"Yes. I assume what you wish to speak of is private, though. So, I'll let you take care of your business and we can talk inside."

Chris tosses the garbage bag off his balcony, and into a bush. "Let the varmints eat the scraps. Come along now." Chris impatiently welcomes his friend into his unassuming home.

That was very...American...

[Teehee. Europeans and their American stereotypes. Never thought I'd be able to use one. ^-^]

I greet only with a nod as I pass the guy and into the apartment room.

Let's cut to the chase.

Chris immediately locks every one of the locks on his front door. "Welcome to my humble abode. It's not much to write home about, but it's definitely... homey. Please sit."

I sit down on a rather...dated couch.

Surprisingly, quite comfortable.

"...I don't get it..."

I shake my head after looking at Chris for a little.

"N-never mind. What is it you called me here for? Are you..."

I lower my voice.

"Are you sure we're alone? No possible bugs?"

...

"That was a stupid question, they would probably do something if they found you if what I gather is correct."

"First things first..." Chris lifts Satoshi up from the couch, and pulls him into a tender embrace. "I can't express just how good it is to finally see you like this, bro! How have things been!?" Chris lowers his voice. "Is Eric still lingering around campus? Are you and that girl that hates my guts still seeing each other?"

I hug Chris back.

He's right, it has been too long and I have been worried about him as well.

"Eric? Uh~, yeah?..And do you mean Kuriko-chan? I-..haven't dated anyone else..."

Something's confusing this boy...perhaps the whole thing he told me about was subconsiously fabricated by his mind?

I don't know...how would something like that come about?

It just doesn't feel right...how about this:

"Hey-how did you...y'know...find out about all of this? Do you know for sure your-..."

Real or not, it will definitely bother him if I don't phrase this nicely.

"...your mother..."

"Visual confirmation, did you have it?"

Chris inhales, and then exhales. "Shinto Sequence, a man that you and I both had the misfortune of running into more times than we both care to admit, has more connections than I had anticipated. I knew the moment I saw him that he was going to turn out to be a douchebag. Apparently, he manages this secluded facility that caters to entities of the occult like myself. It took months before I could devise an escape plan. Man, you have not lived until you've seen the expression of a cab driver picking up someone with a blood-stained and tattered shirt!" Chris coughs. "Anyway, you can understand why returning to Yamaku would be... problematic."

"Sequence? By any chance, would he be related to Setsuna? And...I don't remember running into any relative of his..."

[Keep in mind, Shinto was keeping his identity a secret. That is, unless he revealed it to Christopher and Satoshi and I just don't remember.]

"Cook-kun...are you feeling alright? I don't remember anything of what you speak of."

What's going on?

[Starting to sound like the plot to "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya"] How can he not remember someone so imposing as Shinto? The guy practically threatened both of us. And he posed as a school administrator! "Onto another topic: when was the last time you spoke to Yuuji?"

"Well, it's an adult connection considering...y'know...what you are."

By now, I'm not really having trouble believing in what my friend says.

If something like him exists, I'm bound to not be the only one who knows about it.

And, when someone knows about it, higher-ups are bound to find out some time...

But would the Japanese government really make a...a concentration camp for a group of people? I understand that they are, to an extent, a threat to society but...

Is that really worth throwing our humanity further away than it already is?

"As much as I would like to dismantle that hellish establishment, I haven't the faintest idea what opposition I'll face. I've dealt with the American government on numerous occasions, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if I found out they've been keeping tabs on me ever since I resigned my contract with them." Chris stands up to go sternly confront Satoshi. "Listen, I'm not someone you want to know for an extended period of time. I realize that I've tried to push you away in the past. But i had my reasons. I've seen things no sane person should ever be exposed to. My time spent in the Middle East was... eventful. You're probably asking yourself: 'How does a werewolf even find himself in a high school setting?' My mother left me in the dark on SO many things."

American government? Middle East?

What the hell?

"Hey-hey-hey-hey-hey-slow down. I've not the slightest clue to anything you're talking about."

Now, back to the matter at hand. I'll need to revisit those seperate matters soon for analization. Those could be important when sanding out the rough edges.

"First off, is it really a good idea to compromise such an organization?"

"I mean, if what you have said is true, I understand that they can, and have, killed people. However, was there good reason to?"

"What did your mother do to make them consider her a threat? Who, or what, else is in their confinement? How dangerous are some of these people?"

"For God sake, you're a fucking-..."

Don't say it. Who knows what type of person could be listening. They could catch just a few words of the conversation and over react.

"...thing..that could really hurt some people if rubbed the wrong way."

"The way you put it to me suggests that it is a well-funded organization and damn-well is a threat."

"For something that large to even exist...it had to have taken in some larger game than the first few it ever caught."

"I'm not for their misconduct and by no means am I against you but...if your mother left you in the dark about all this then how do you know that what happened between your family and those people wasn't a misunderstanding of some type?"

"After my mother's passing, I was offered her position in an organization that helps maintain harmony between humans and supernatural entities like myself. I declined the offer... I'm not in any position to be given that kind of power. Plus, other werewolves in the organziation would actualy prey on my sister if they found out she existed. I don't know if it will ever be safe for me to return to Yamaku. I can't in good conscience ask for your intervention here; I simply called you here to get the word out that I'm not dead. Although, it seems apparant that my death would save countless lives."

"Ah. You are a very good older brother, Cook, putting your sister's life ahead of your own-."

I seem to skip a step. My words rear end my next group of speech.

"-I could, possibly, look after her myself..."

It's a little clear that I hadn't really thought about how that could work too much.

"...Eh..well, I mean, I could keep her hidden-if it helps. I may not be able to gain as much strength as you can when you need it but would they be able to track her that easily?"

He needs a little more time to sort things out without someone else to protect or worry about...

"I don't now if Yamaku's campus security has become any more laxe since Eric was seized. Personally, I would nothing more than for my sister to remain under his care. But my 'unseen enemies' might see their relationship as an advantage." Chris proceeds to put a few fingers to his head and close his eyes to think. "I need Yuuji here. Think you can make it work?"

I can't let this go on further without knowing something.

"Chris. I've no knowledge as to what happened between Eric and whatever else you're talking about. All I know about is you and our crazy adventure with that insane teacher."

"Now, I haven't talked to Yuuji in...forever, but I suppose I could do maybe something to contact him."

If he were to be captured, he would surely be tortured until he spilt the beans on my wherabouts. And before you object, do NOT think for a second that I have ill feelings for Yuuji. Immediately after Chris finishes speaking, it finally is noticed that I...

...Have an amused grin on my face and I'm picking at my teeth with one of my kunai.

Always come prepared when you're dealing with a man on the run from an organization of some kind operating outside the jurisdiction of law.

I speak with a bit of a mumble due to there not being full use of my mouth.

"When. Whe'e. Ho'."

I've always loved covert stuff. If it wasn't for my knight mentality, I'd probably have stolen a car by now.
