"It's fine." I assure as I bring my arm back down. I momentarily question whether or not this is truly so, but decide that the answer is either unimportant or unpleasant and move on.
The handshake is made mildly awkward due to its performance across a table, but its not enough that I care. "Kimura, Sora." I give my name as I shake his hand.
My stomach growls a bit. "I should probably get food or something." I acknowledge.

"I advise against it. It's disgusting." Hawke says at he gestures to his mostly full plate. "Not exactly what you would call a satisfying breakfast."

Hawke takes a few moments break from the conversation to muse where exactly he should direct the flow of conversation. Perhaps he should question the arm? Probably not, too personal for people who have only just met. His hobbies? Wants? Hopes? Dreams? Hawke didn't know. Small-talk was never his forté. Back in England people usually clamored for his attention on account of his dad. While this severely limited his social skills, since coming to the academy Hawke had began to notice an improvement in his conversational skills when the subject wasn't him. But right now... he had nothing.

"So, err..." He thinks hard to remember the guy's name, "Kimono, how long you been here?"

"Kimura." I correct him; being addressed as a piece of clothing isn't all that bothersome, but still not preferable. I close my eyes for the few seconds during which I struggle to remember how long ago it was I got here. (Assuming time passes in-RP at about the same rate it does in reality,) "Four months or so. I think." I say, opening my eyes again. I wrote down the date of my arrival somewhere in case something like this came up, but it's in my dorm and I don't even know where in my dorm it is.

"Kimure, right, sorry." Hawke says, waving off the embarrassment with a bat of the hand. "Just testin' you." He says with a grin, getting more comfortable. "Four months, eh? Been here nearly a year myself... Still find rooms that I didn't know existed."

That's probably due to the memory loss.
Probably.
You should probably get that fixed better.
Probably. Why am I talking to myself in my head?
You tell me.

"I'm still hoping to find the room of requirement." Hawke says grinning, being reminded of his favorite book as a child.

"Room of requirement sounds familiar but I'm not sure why." I state, as it's hard for me to fully remember anything right now.

"It's from a book." Hawke begins to explain with a smile, "You simply had to think about what you wanted before you went in and when you entered it would have whatever you needed."

What would I need from the room of requirement?

"Biggest deus ex machina in any series ever, but who cares?"

I take a bit remembering what "dues ex machina" means as well, but I figure it out.
I've closed my eyes as I try to remember where "Room of Requirement" came from, but after a bit give up on it and open my eyes again as I know I probably won't be able to.

Doesn't lead the conversation anywhere new, though.

Hawke notes the silence and stares at Sora for a few seconds, awaiting a response to further the conversation. After the silence got uncomfortably long and the length and intensity of Hawke's stare was getting a little too close to the border of creepy, Hawke nods slightly and returns to his breakfast, eating the last few morsels with carefully measured bites.

"Harry Potter." He says out of nowhere, guessing that Sora was trying to work out what the book was.

That was a good series.
Also he just answered my question without me asking it.
uh
oh well

"I wouldn't recommend it, but I'm starving." Hawke says with a shrug of the shoulder.

"I see." Hawke says with a nod, not entirely listening to Sora.

He occupies himself with his phone, flipping it open and punching in the familiar password which was luckily mostly muscle memory rather than actual memory. He begins to browse Deadbook and provides no further input into the conversation, instead preferring silent companionship.

After a bit, I realize that Hawke doesn't seem to plan any further input. I look around a bit, but as expected, there isn't much to look around at. I look at the phone that has apparently stolen this conversation before turning my gaze to the windows.

"Deadbook sucks." Hawke says out of the blue with no warning, and without so much as a hint of looking up. "Like... really sucks."

"It's just boring." Hawke says, shaking his head and dropping his phone onto the table, then making eye contact with Sora. "Boring and there's nothing to do. And addicting."

(don't break your phone by dropping it again Hawke)

"Boring and there's nothing to do?" I should think that the former implies the latter.
I don't voice these concerns.
I spend a bit trying to think of a response, but there doesn't seem to be much to say in response. He simply stated why he dislikes Deadbook, and I can't change these reasons, nor can I change his opinions, so I'm not sure how to respond. I eventually think of a suggestion (if one could call it that): "Find more not-boring things to do instead?"

"Music, mostly." Hawke explains, flicking his eyes back down to his phone and mindlessly spinning it around on the table, "Not really a sports person. What do you do?"

Re: [Open] The Morning from Hell

"What do I do?" I mumble to myself.
I've tried drawing a couple times. To say that I draw might be a stretch, especially considering I have yet to finish anything since--
I wander and look around, but I'm not sure how interesting that is.
Thinking isn't very interesting.
Listening to music isn't very interesting, and I don't do it all that often anyway.

This is a serious problem. What if somebody asks what I do with my spare time again? And it will happen again!
Hmm...

I hate telling myself that I will do something; it means I've gotten rid of a choice in the future. (Of whether to or not to do something, namely.) Maybe I need resolve, though. Maybe not every plan should start with "I might," and instead...

"I will draw. Eventually." I respond, after the time I took thinking to myself.

Is that resolved enough, even with "eventually at the end?"

("I am not a resolved person.")
