Kaim sighed and walked out muttering "I wish people explained things to me..."

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
Toshiaki seated himself, still vexed by Kaim's impropriety.
Kaim Matsura, huh? You're on a fast lane to failure if you keep that behavior up.
Toshi watched as Hawke lectured, the majority of the class looking puzzled and confused. He, of course, was far beyond this.
For Hawke's sake, if nothing else, he took thorough notes in his book, at least appearing to be attentive.
An exercise in ennui…

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
Hawke sets a simple task for the class to complete: introducing themselves to each other in English. Avoiding the urge to wince every time he hears "Mine name is..." Hawke weaves his way around the class, giving advice to the struggling students. He eventually makes his way towards Toshiaki, and greets him with a warm smile.
"I apologise for the level of the rest of the class." He says with a sorry expression, perching on the edge of Toshi's desk.

"Eh. I'm used to it," Toshi said with a shrug, his expression somewhere between boredom and disappointment.
Funny. A few years ago, I would've been nothing but smug about this.
"Best thing is just to get everyone up to speed as soon as possible, I guess," he continued, his tone more enthusiastic.

Hawke nods, while passing his gaze to the girl behind Toshi. "Why don't the two of you work together?" Hawke asks the pair while his wingman-senses tingle.

"Um… we have been," Toshi answered.
At least, he had been going through the exercises Hawke had given them.
Jun, of course, was not doing so verbally.

As the topic of the conversation turned towards her, Jun pulled her notebook towards herself, hoping the teacher didn't notice her "notes". She then waved and gave the two of them an uneasy smile.

Hawke, oblivious to the fact that Jun couldn't speak, asks her, "Can I hear your pronunciation?".

Jun replied in a way that her answer would be immediately obvious, assuming the teacher was atleast moderately intelligent.
She puts her notebook down and answers in sign, {I'm mute}

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
Wouldn't be a bad idea to learn some sign language, considering we're going to be around each other often.
Watching the situation without a word, he caught a glimpse of what was written in her notebook.
Is that…?
Yes, it definitely is.
Well there's another thing to discuss.

Hawke stands in stunned silence, "Right. Sorry." He says, looking embarrassed."The speaking element of the topic isn't huge, you won't be missing out on much. It's mostly writing."

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
Hawke nods, leaving the two of them to work together... however that would work. He meanders around the rest of the class, checking on the rest of the students and helping out wherever he can, until the bell rings to signify the beginning of the next class. Unsure of what to do, Hawke hovers by the desk. Being only a mere assistant, Hawke was supposed to be flitting through the various classrooms along with Hansa-sensei that day based upon when each class would be taking languages, but seeing as he wasn't there today Hawke had no idea where to go...
Luckily, a member of staff from the office stepped through the door, "Hawke-sensei? Kouchou-sensei wants you to stay in here today. Get a feel for different methods of teaching, you may as well experience different styles while Hansa-sensei is away." Hawke thanks the woman with a nod as she steps out and is replaced by a rather tired-looking science teacher who immediately takes the seat by the desk and buries his head in his hands.
"This should be fun..." He mouths to Toshi, as the teacher looks up and begins lecturing on the ins-and-outs of osmosis. The lecture lasted about 45 minutes and Hawke learned much about controlling a class: bore them into submission so half of them go to sleep rather than cause a disturbance.
After what seemed an eternity the bell rang, signalling the final period before lunch. Unfortunately the class was maths, and Hawke ended up learning more about maths than teaching (it wasn't his strongest point). As the final quadratic equation was solved, the bell rang for lunch and the class left in a stampede fueled by hunger.

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
"I guess we'll see," he replied silently.
Toshi retrieved another notebook and began writing, diligently following the lecture.
Science was his forte, and this was at least at a decent level.
Nothing he hadn't seen before, considering how much he read on his own time, but enough to keep his attention.
Clearly, the rest of the class felt otherwise, either completely lost or completely oblivious.
And mathematics. The madness behind the scientific method.
It could be tiring, but Toshi enjoyed it. He excelled at it.
Wonder if Yamaku has a math club? Or science club?
He easily completed the work in class, it being well within his understanding.
As the bell rang, he neatly packed his notebooks in his briefcase.
He stretched his neck and back, working out the stiffness that came from sitting in a desk for three hours straight.
He observed as everyone to his right raced for the door.
What to do for lunch?

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
Jun tried her best to pay attention to the science teacher, and found the material fairly interesting, but due to the voice that delivered it, she found herself zoning out more than just a couple times.
Mathematics on the other hand was a different story. Having been practicing on her own time was paying off, whether her motives were academic or not, and she managed to finish the assignment with time to spare. This allowed her enough time to organize her notes.
After letting a few other students file past her, Jun got up and handed Toshi's notepad, which is closed, back to him while holding her own 2 notebooks close to her chest.

"Oh, thanks," he said, taking the notepad.
"Any plans for lunch?" he asked, noting that the rest of the class was already on the way out.

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
I didn't know there was much of a choice other than the cafeteria. So, I guess I didn't really have a plan other than follow the crowd, which isn't much of a plan either.
Jun shakes her head, causing her hair to fall infront of her face, which she subsequently pulls out of the way before looking towards Toshi expectantly.

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
Mihoko fought against the crowd of students who were making their way towards their lunch time destinations and was able to get into the classroom before Hawke left.
"Hey Hawke, I heard about what was going on. Just giving you a heads up, right after lunch is History with me. I'm gonna save time and eat here. I don't know what your plans are but you're more than welcome to join me." she said as she took her seat at the teachers desk and began to take her lunch out of her bag.

"Well, I guess it's to the cafeteria then," Toshi said, shrugging.
He locked his briefcase and set it in his desk before walking towards the door.

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
While walking a few steps to Toshi's left, Jun began to write something on their way down the hall towards the cafeteria. It was a short but noticeable action as she slowed down slightly to do it. However, she did not seem like she had any intention of passing along what she had written to Toshi.
...
While it was nice not having to fight the crowd rushing to the cafeteria, being the last ones there also had its drawbacks. Such as waiting at the back of the line, and witnessing as the majority of the tables quickly fill up.

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
Toshi glanced over his shoulder when Jun slowed down to write something, intrigued, but continued walking.
Arriving at the cafeteria, he let out an emphatic sigh.
The room was already packed, and all the tables appeared full.
While waiting in the long line, his face suddenly lit up.
"I've got an idea," he said to Jun. "Once you've bought your lunch, follow me."

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
Sure, why not
Jun shrugged in response.
Once at the end of the line, Jun handed the cashier her order which she had written earlier in the hall. Upon recieving her plate of curry, she placed it on top of her two notebooks and carried them together, after which she stepped aside and waited for Toshi.

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
Toshiaki paid for his lunch – katsu curry, chūkadon, anpan, and a bottle of tea – and walked out of the cafeteria.
He headed for the stairs, taking them all the way up.
There were just a few people around, sitting at the few tables spread across the rooftop.
"How's this?" he asked, spotting an empty table.

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
This is actually pretty nice up here.
Jun takes a seat at the table and sets her books and plate down. Before she begins eating, her gaze is fixated on the view of the academy and the scenery around the school on a hill for a few moments while a smile begins to spread. Once she was satisfied with her sight seeing, she looked to Toshi and gestured towards the scene past the edge of the roof.

Re: [OPEN] A New Generation
Toshi followed her gaze, out beyond the rooftops.
"Yeah, the countryside looks really nice from up here."
He set his notepad on the table, opening his lunch.
