Why am I here?

(Chris reluctantly knocks on the door of a Denser Hemmington.)

"Come in!"

He puts his glasses back on his nose and waits.

(Chris opens the man's door and enters.) Hello, sir. One of my instructors recommended me to you. (Chris remains standing.)

(My first "reluctant" one. Oh well, let's see how it goes.)

He raises an eyebrow.

"They did?"

He stands up, motions around his desk and approaches you, extending a hand.

"Well, hello!"

(Chris lends his hand to meet with Denser's hand.) Pleasure, sir.

He shakes it firmly and quickly, then heads back to his chair behind the desk, showing another one to you while walking.

"Take a seat, please. May I ask your name?"

I'm senior Christopher Cook. And you are? (Chris decides to take a seat.)

"My name is Hemington. I just arrived here."

He crosses his hands on the desk.

"So, I would ask you why you're visiting me, but it seems that you were sent. Did something happen?"

His voice is calm. He is politely smiling.

Mutou claims that my persistent sleeping in his class is disruptive to his lectures. In my defense, I mentioned to him that I don't sleep well most nights.

"I see. Is there a particular reason why your nights are short?"

I often lie awake at night, contemplating life's many questions.

He smiles a bit.

"Brain can't stop running? I know the problem. Unfortunate when it happens at night."

I usually fall sleep through much trial and error, but some of the dreams I experience make me soon regret doing so.

(No wonder he's sleeping in class.)

"Nightmares... How are they? Some bad memories?"

(Chris is now visibly shaking.) These "dreams" involve me killing people I should care about...

(Okay, this escalated quickly...)

"Dreams aren't to be taken at the first meaning. You see yourself killing people you love? That can mean you're afraid of them disappearing or leaving you. I'm shooting in the dark here, but that is what I think."

(Probably a self-confidence problem... Then again, which ado doesn't have that? There's probably something more...)

"I'm not lightening the impact of the dreams and I can understand you're having awful nights because of that. But the meaning isn't that simple."

I've heard that one's sanity can be proven through that person's ability to process right from wrong. I know I'm not certifiably insane: I'm a momma's boy that's currently working on growing closer to a girl I really like.

"Sanity is like normality. Some simplist word to sum up someone. I don't like it. Insane doesn't mean anything, each one has their way to see the world. I don't call people sane or insane, even if they tend to think my job is precisely to do that."

He chuckles a bit.

"So, afraid of being rejected. That is probably what's making your mind race."

I'm no stranger to rejection...

"I think it is better to try anyway, to not have regrets about it later. It's awfully cliché, but true nonetheless."

Life is full of learning experiences.

He smiles a bit.

"Indeed. Did your nightmares start after you began to know this person?"

Yes, sir.

(Sir... ha, still not used to be called like that. Sounds nice though.)

He crosses his hands on the table.

"Hmm... You are probably overthinking about this person, and torturing your mind, which leads to these nightmares. Fear of rejection, and maybe a bit of self-confidence issues."

He chuckles.

"A problem most people know, sadly."
