(Open) Consultation

Masato leans back on the chair and looks around the empty classroom. Typically, this day of the week after school was reserved for consultation - if any of the students needed help with something, they were supposed to come and ask. Masato figured that, with the exams approaching quickly, at least one or two students would stay behind after class, but no such luck.

The man looks at his watch, realizing he has already waited for 20 minutes. "At least the other teachers know I'm here... If no students come, maybe one of them can come and keep me company..." he thinks before leaning back and closing his eyes out of boredom.

A muffled voice is heard
"Come on open."
The sound of the door being slammed open
"Got it!"
Yuuji feels a tap on his shoulder
huh?

"Y-Yuuji-san...."
Sumiko stays behind him out of sight from the teacher
"R-remember what we came here for..."

Masato leans back forward and turn towards the young man who had just opened the door to the classroom. 'Ah... Takahashi-kun, right?' the man nods slightly as he recognizes him as one of the students from the classes he's teaching. 'How can I help you?'

"Hello Toriyama-Sensei."
Yuuji bows slightly before walking toward the front
"I came here for well..."
Sorry Sumiko
Yuuji steps aside Reveling Sumiko who was behind him
"Sumiko-Chan wanted to ask you something..."

Sumiko Quickly move back behind Yuuji but peeks her head out
"H-Hello..."
She trembles slightly before returning back to hiding

He gives Sumiko a faint, yet reassuring smile. 'It's a really pleasant surprise to see you both here. Frankly, I was beginning to think no one would show up. Please, have a seat and let me know how I can be useful'

Yuuji nods and takes his seat, SUmiko next to him
"I Have a question of my own Sensei... I would like to know if there was any way to improve in my studying. Since finals are right around the corner, I want to push out as most as I can."

Sumiko looks a Yuuji fearless in his question, She lets out a deep sigh then asks....
"And A-as for me I-I need some help with m-my Homework. I have been having trouble..."
She keep her head down as she speaks

'Well, Takahashi-kun, I don't really know what to say to you, other than the generic "Study a lot and work hard". Really, that's all there is to it. Whether you're trying to pass your exams or become the CEO of a large corporation, the secret is all the same - you need lots and lots of studying. The test I'm giving to seniors won't be particularly hard - as long as you can solve the kinds of problems we did here this week, you'll be just fine. As for you, Nakagawa-chan...' he turns towards her. 'Let me take a look. What exactly is the problem?'

SUmiko takes out the paper Toriyama Handed out the other day its all blank not even her name is put on it
"..."

Yuuji nods and thinks for a moment
I really can't do much more then just keep doing what I was doing...
He looks over at the paper Sumiko pulled out with his eyes wide

'Nakagawa-chan, forgive me if my question insults you, but... Did you even try to fill this out?' Masato asks her, trying not to be offensive.

She shakes her head
"I-I didn't know what to do. I could not understand anything that was on h-here so I-I left it blank..."

'I understand' he nods. 'Unfortunately, you're not the only student here who has fallen back on her studies... Which really makes me think some quite unpleasant things about the level of education in this school... Well, no matter, I will try to help you as much as I can, but you'll also need to work hard in order to catch up, alright?'

Sumiko nods and takes out a pencil from her bag
"W-Where should we start...?"

Yuujji gets up
"I should leave I don't want to be a bother. I shall see both of you in class"
Yuuji takes his leave

'Very well, Takahashi-kun' Masato nods, then turns his eye back towards Sumiko. 'Well, first, try giving this a good look and fill out as much as you can. I'm sure that, at the very least, you know your name, right?'

"Y-yes..."
She writes her name then begins on the paper. Struggling with the English questions, she turns the paper over and begins with Math.
Her pencil speed though the back side with ease

Masato leans back on the chair, calmly and silently waiting for Sumiko to finish. Even though he's a science teacher, he feels confident enough his knowledge in other subjects, so he doesn't say anything when he sees his student struggling with the other parts of the paper.

Sumiko hand start shaking as she struggle again with the English part
"Sensei... I-I can't translate this."
She flips the paper so it faces Toriyama

'Hmm, let me see...' Masato looks at it. 'Ah, I get why this is troubling you. That sentence construction can be tricky. English tends to be a very simple language to learn, but occasionally, you might stumble upon something that's a bit... extraordinary. I believe the proper translation into Japanese would be...'

He wraps his cybernetic fingers around his pen and quickly scribbles down some words in Japanese on the paper. 'Something like that'

She nods a bit but still confused
"B-But what about this one here"
She point at the next problem
"W-what would be a simple way of figuring these kids of problem?"

'Well, really, the only way you can perfect a language is by practicing a lot. Read books in English, chat with English-speaking people on the Internet, etc. But for now, the best advice I can give you is to try and figure out each sentence's meaning based on the words you recognize. Even if you don't get it completely right, you'll still get at least half a point for your answer. And, who knows, maybe you will'

SUmiko nods then gets up
"T-thank you Sensei. I-I think I can figure out the rest for myself."
