[Open] Waiting for Mom

Post by Ellie Wilson on Tue Jul 30, 2013 12:39 am

Ellie is sitting on a bench in the park, right across from the fountain in the middle. A small, white book written in braille is placed open on her knees, and her tiny fingers are gently moving across the lines with a pretty impressive speed, especially considering her age. The girl was just told by her mom to simply stay put and wait to be picked up, and just like an obedient daughter should, she's doing exactly that. Despite being there all alone, Ellie doesn't appear to be lonely, quite the opposite - she looks like she's having fun, as she occasionally giggles quietly and kicks one of her feet forward. She appears to be so absorbed in the book that she doesn't even hear the quickly approaching footsteps...

Mizo had gone to get a few needed things from the store, but on his the park looked so quiet and inviting that he decided that he couldn't help but take a walk and enjoy some quiet. However he ended up walking for a bit longer than expected, and his muscles were still not up to par so he still got rather easily. He needed to find a place to sit for a moment. Mizo scanned the park and saw a bench that was already occupied by a young girl.
"OK...I can do this." he thought to himself as he mustered up his courage and forced himself to walk over to the bench, where he said to the girl sitting there
"Uh...Ummm...E-Excuse Miss...but...ummm...is t-this seat...uhhh...this seat t-taken?"
Not his best moment by far, but at least he was trying.

'Eh?' Ellie shivers, startled a bit by the sudden voice nearby that had pulled her out of her book, but quickly smiles once the boy asks his question. 'Not at all!' she responds cheerfully, feeling a certain amount of satisfaction that someone actually bothered to ask permission instead of just sit down silently, which would have only freaked her out a bit.

"T-Thank you." he said before taking a seat on the bench to rest his tired muscles. Once seated he took a moment to take in his surroundings again, the park was so quiet and peaceful. As Mizo's gaze happened upon the girl seated next to him he noticed that she was reading a book in braille. Books, his interest was grabbed.
"Ummm....I-If you don't mind me asking....uhhh...I was w-wondering...what book you're reading?"
He asked the girl.

'Oh! It's called "The Forgotten Shard"!' Ellie smiles, happy to have someone to talk to once again. 'Have you ever read it?'

"N-no..I haven't, w-what's it about?" he asked.
It was odd when it came to books Mizo found it easier to talk to strangers. Maybe that's why he never minded trips to the library or the bookstore.

'It's about a group of teenagers who fight a secret war inside people's dreams!' Ellie explains happily, then places her bookmark back into the book and closes it gently, but still leaves it on her knees. 'It's not the kind of book I'd usually read, but there aren't a whole lot of books being released in braille! But I don't mind, it's still pretty fun! What about you? What books do you like to read?'

"W-Well...I kinda...umm...I kinda read a little of everything. Right now..I'm kind of enjoying Biography's. I just finished t-the...uhh...the one about Wade "Deadpool" Wilson, and now I'm n-not sure which one to start on next. I guess I have too many to p-pick from.I do that sometimes...get like a...like a book overload."
He still found it odd, but maybe the combination of the subject being books and this girl being just a kid. But he didn't feel as nervous when talking to her, he was still kind of nervous and scared of saying the wrong thing.

Ellie gasp a little when she hears Deadpool's name. 'Really?!? They wrote a book about him? That's so cool!' she giggles happily, wondering if her mom or uncle know about this. Of course, the little girl's not about to let an opportunity to brag a bit about her family just pass by. 'Wade Wilson is my grandpa! My name's Elena Wilson, but you can call me Ellie!' she introduces herself with a smile.

Mizo was at sort of a loss for words, then his manners hit him like a sack bag of bricks.
"Oh...s-sorry, My name is...is Mizo Takameshi, i-it's nice to meet you Ellie."

'Nice to meet you, Mizo!' she giggles happily. Ellie doesn't exactly expect the book to focus on anyone but her grandfather, but it's still worth asking... 'Say, does that biography happen to mention me?' she asks curiously.

"N-no...sorry, it's m-mostly about his life before the The Decimation Event. Though from what...from what I u-understand the book..k-kind of..uhh...tones it down. N-Now that I think about it...it almost seems like he added some of his...umm...own p-personal edits, or maybe t-they just did that to b-boost sales." he replied.

'Yep, that sounds just like something Grandpa would do!' Ellie giggles. 'Does it say anything about his family in general?' she asks curiously, wondering if there would be something about her mother or uncle, since Deadpool took both of them in before Decimation happened.

"W-Well...not much really, just more a brief section a-about him taking some family in, i-it seemed like that part was really up-played...as it was worded..."This totally awesome, super good deed of selflessness and kinditude." then there was s-something about golden tacos...some p-parts didn't make complete sense now that I think about it." he answered.

Ellie can't help but start giggling at the descriptions, which sound exactly like her grandfather would write them. She's not really upset for not being included in the biography, as she assumes Deadpool did it to protect her and her mother from anyone that could potentially be coming after him. After all, he had made hundreds of enemies throughout his long career as a mercenary, and Ellie realized that despite her young age. The little girl laughs out loud for about thirty seconds before she finally manages to take a breath. 'My grandpa isn't really someone who makes sense!' she responds with a wide smile.

'Oh, he's really, really nice!' Ellie responds, still keeping the smile on her face and rocking her feet back and forth. 'And not just to me, he's nice to everyone! I always love being at his place! He makes some chimichangas and tells me all of these really funny stories about his adventures! I'm not sure how much of them is true, but he always makes me laugh until I'm out of breath!' she giggles as the memories of her grandfather resurface.

Ellie shakes her head when asked if she went there to read. 'Nah, I'm just waiting for my mom to come and pick me up. She's at work now, and I don't know the way home. I just went out to buy some ice cream, and then this girl from my uncle's school took me here. But I like it here! I think I'll be coming over to read from time to time'

After Mizo mentions that he's new, the little girl smiles. 'Me too! I just moved from Toronto a few days ago!' she proclaims proudly.

"Boy...my muscles sure are tired."

'Eh? Is something wrong with your muscles?' Ellie asks curiously. Due to her blindness, her hearing has been enhanced, so she's able to hear his quiet mutter pretty clearly.
