The Grand Doctor's Debut [OPEN]

{OCC: For the record, any appearances of Marcus before this have been retconned, since I screwed up many-a RP with him beforehand. That is, if the 'Big Guns' will let me do that... }

It had been a few months since he had been accepted into the esteemed Yamaku Academy, and unlike his last line of work, he promised himself to do his best in keeping himself on task while helping out the many students he would be teaching. He had been, along with his twin brother, moving some things from place to place and looking for a place to stay that would be closer to the academy. at least he found the apartments of Sendai to be pretty spacious and near to where he wanted to go.

Day One. 9 AM.  En route to the Freshman Class.

Now revved-up and raring to go, he walked into the freshman class for his first lesson for that day. He was wearing his casual get-up. His trademark white jacket, his favorite pink shirt, and a black training shirt underneath, all tucked into a pair of dark blue jeans and his black shoes, all topped off with a pair of sleek shades. He looked like a badass; he felt like a badass, and pretty much knew he was one. He would buy a suit later in the month when he could get used to the teaching and so that it didn't clash with the other teacher's style of clothing. As a teacher, he did need to set an example, right?

He turned left at the end of the corridor, and walked towards the freshman's classroom, looking at the documents in his hands, looking at the room number on the paper, then looking up at the label on the door. [This seems to be it...], he thought to himself. He stood at the door, hearing the faint sound of chatter inside chatter inside. He took a deep breath and fixed the file of paper in his hands, tucking it under his right arm and opening the door, pushing it with his shoulder to allow him to take off his shades with his left hand.

"Well, Morning kids! Your daily dose of science has arrived!" Marcus exclaimed, beginning his game with an upbeat tone, walking to center stage and placing his file onto the table and pulling out the board pen he had in his jacket pocket and began to write of the board/


"So, how shall we begin this class?" He asked, turning to the class. Opening the desk drawer to his right on the table in front of him, he shuffled through before finding a science textbook, opening the contents page and opening to the biology section.

"Okay. Let's begin with something really easy. Biology. Can someone break that word up into two parts and correctly tell me what each part means in detail?"

Marcus-sensei awaited his students' replies, and to see how this lively bunch would reply to that one, trick, question.

First hour we find out Hansa retired. Only the second hour of the day and there's another teacher replaced? Did everyone jump ship?

Toshiaki wrote "Thursday, 1/9/22" at the top of the first empty page in his science notes as he listened to Tanaka's introduction. He calmly waited to see if anyone else would answer the question first.

Kanjiro was restless in his seat, his limbs twitching and spasming as he tried to put his pen to paper in preparation to scrawl some notes down. His lucid state had eluded him recently. He really had to do something about his disappearing sanity. And he would have, if only he were able to pick that thought out of the millions of fragmented thoughts that raced through his mind, all joining together in an endless noise like static. The teacher asked a question, which was good. Usually he was able to struggle through the static in spite of his own mind if there was a question aimed at him, a direct thought for him to grasp onto, if only momentarily before slipping into the noise again. His studies were the only thing he was capable of doing in these states. Writing was near impossible for him, illegible scrawls with letters that staggered across the page like drunkards. Even he couldn't make sense of his notes most of the time. He put the pen down, giving up on writing anything down, and answered the teacher's question in rapid, broken sentences. Science and Math were about the only subjects he was good in, he might as well make the effort.

"Greek. Bios. Means life. Logos. Means study. Biology. Study of living things."

Marcus grinned, snapping his fingers and pointing his right hand in a gun-shape at the young student. "Very good, my boy! You're right, but modernizing it makes 'Bio' and 'Ology'."

Marcus picked up the boardpen and wrote the word "Life", and asked, "What is the smallest unit of living matter in the world? This one's a tricky one, so think about the answer before you say it. And explain why you think so."

Kanjiro considered this question for a while before thinking of an answer. It could go one of two ways, depending on how you looked at it.

"Organisms are all carbon based... Carbon atoms?" He guessed with a frown, mumbling incoherently between the two statements. It was either that or some single-celled organism, which answer was correct he wasn't sure.

Another new guy, brave enough to speak up, huh.
Jun and Ishitawa haven't, obviously.
And that Ishimura looks like she's just off in her own little imaginary world.

Toshiaki observed their exchange silently.
