Declan Carrick Character Sheet.

NAME: Declan Carrick
AGE: 33
CLASS: Graduate Nurse
APPEARANCE: A foreigner from Ireland, he is a very formidable man, at six feet and four inches tall he towers over many of the natives. His visage makes him look much younger than he really is. He has Red Hair and Green Eyes, standard fare for an Irishman. He tends to wear what one would call business casual when off duty, usually seen wearing a long sleeve shirt and a sweater vest and tie. His bottom half usually consists of khakis and leather shoes. On duty he'd usually just wear a lab coat or medical garb depending on where he is employed. For the sake of this scenario, he has a lab coat.
BACKSTORY:

Born in Limerick, Ireland in 1987, to a working class family of 7 children. He was lacking in quite a bit however he never complained about a thing. He was found to be the brightest of the seven and his parents tried to get him involved in many things to see where his interests lied. After a few years of searching he finally settled on a career path. He wanted to become a medical practitioner. This came to be ever since he lost his dear friend Morgan to a bleed out. Morgan and Declan had been friends for over a decade until a tragic day in 2004. They were leaving a party at another friends house on foot when a car drove by and the passenger of the vehicle opened fire upon them. Declan did not get hit but Morgan got hit several times in the leg and thigh areas Declan attempted to call medical services but they were all out handling other distress calls and there wasn't a hospital for another 10 or so miles. Declan knew nothing about how to deliver first aid or how to bandage wounds so Morgan was left to bleed out helplessly and in great pain.

It would later be explained that Morgan owed these people protection money as his parents owned a small business and he usually was the one that handled the transactions and hadn't payed him in several weeks. The two men involved were part of a local street gang called the “Westies” since they operated out of the western part of Ireland. They were eventually found and brought to justice. Ever since that day Declan would never forgive himself for leaving Morgan so helpless and decided to become a medical practitioner. He excelled in medical school and received several honors from the top school in Ireland, Trinity Medical School.

In 2016 the Japanese set out to look for some of the best international medical practitioners to work in their nation due to the nations internal issues with birth rates and the ever rising issues stemming from the amount of N.E.E.Ts and Hikikomoris that have been plaguing the nation for quite a while . They didn't have enough workers to fulfill the demand for services their constituents required. Nations from all around the world wishing to increase and strengthen relations with Japan sent delegates and nominees in various sectors of labor. Ireland nominated Declan to be their representative in the medical field. After very many hours of deliberation Declan and fourteen other graduates from nations such as the United States and Germany were accepted by a council headed by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to begin work in Japan as medical practitioners as part of this wide-scale labor plan.

He took part in an 8 month hospitality course along with all of the other accepted workers to learn about Japan and it's culture. The language and all of the inner workings he needed to understand in order to work in the nation. He also took part in a workshop that helped him understand the inner workings of today's cybernetics and prostheses. He already knew a lot of things from his days in Ireland but nonetheless didn't mind some of the new information he was receiving. He also received his practicing license and his work permit so that he can work and operate in Japan during this time. He then worked as an intern between 2017 and 2019 for Aizenbashi Hospital in Osaka. He was going to continue working for Aizenbashi until he heard something from one of the other interns about a school in nearby Sendai called Yamaku Academy for the Disabled. They had recently had an opening for a nurse and this sounded like the best way to honor Morgan's life. By helping those who desperately needed help and care. Children who had very little to live for in most cases. Declan decided this is where he must go to honor his dead friends memory.


PERSONALITY: Declan is a very calculating person, while not above making jokes or making light of things, he is usually very pensive and likes taking a methodical approach to things. When it comes to taking care of the students he really feels a true connection to each and every one of them. He's a very caring person and it's reflected in how he goes about his job. While not the first one to speak in a conversation, he doesn't mind partaking in one and might even have some fun from time to time. He is however a bit afraid of making new connections and very often has nightmares about what has happened to Morgan. He makes very few friends because of this fear of losing them.
