[Open] A lonely lunch

<Damn, my head is killing me. Why did it seem like everyone in that lunch room was yelling>
Finding a quiet place to eat seemed harder than she had expected, but eventually Chiharu found a stair case leading up to the roof. Wincing as she opens the door into the bright outdoors. Finding a suitable place to sit, she takes off her headphones and takes in a deep breath of fresh air.
*sigh*
After a while, Chiharu finishes a small portion of her meal before getting bored with it and for idle activity she starts sharpening one of her chopsticks against the pavement of the roof while laying down and closing her eyes.

As Chiharu starts to drift off into thought, she is startled by the distant sound of foot steps, slowly making their way up the stairs. She sits up and puts her headphones back on. Waiting patiently for her visitor to arrive through the horendously squeaky door, she pretends like she's been eating this whole time.

Sumiko has returned to the school. The events of the night before still hunted her as she walked up the stairs. Carrying no food, she had been starving herself since this morning. she looks up turning the corner on the stairs see a girl already here. Hesitant on say hello she decides to sit only a few steps down, sobbing.

<Is she crying?>
Chiharu slowly walks over to the girl and sits next to her. She holds up her lunch and says in a soft and quiet, yet somewhat abrupt voice, "Want some? I'm full."

Sumiko jumps slightly Hearing Chiharu's voice. she pushes the food aside with her left hand and shakes her head
"No..."
Her stomach growls loud, but Sumiko ignores it and looks away

<suit yourself>
Chiharu shrugs, puts the plate down, and stares off into space for a second before retrying a conversation.
"My name is Chiharu."

Sumiko looks at her and gives a poor smile
"N-nakagawa.... Sumiko Nakagawa.."

"That's a pretty name."
Chiharu pauses for a second.
"Better than mine, at least."

"T-thank you...your name is pretty as well.."
Sumiko looks down at the floor, forcing herself to be cheery she says
" I have not seen you around the school. a-are you new here?"

"Yep, this is my first day"
Chiharu looks over to sumiko, rather than staring off into space, and says, "do you remember your first day here?"

Sumiko look a bit more alive now then before
"Y-yea... I meet three people that day."
She giggles

<This might actually be working>
"Three people? all in one day? You've got me beat. I think most people think that because I'm wearing these headphones I can't hear them, so they don't bother talking to me."

Headphones?
With her vision cut off from her hood covering her eyes, Sumiko looks up a bit more finally seeing the headphones Chiharu was talking about
"I didn't know you had those on..."
She tilts her head
"H-how can you hear me?"

<this is going to become a common thing isn't it?>
"Well, I hear and see things more intensely than most people."
*yawn*
"So, for example, someone slamming a door to you is like an explosion to me."

Her eyes widen with Chiharu's explanation
"So... I should speak soft when talking to you?"

"Oh no, that's why I have these in the first place. They make everything sound closer to normal. So unless you're going to be yelling in my face, you should be fine."
Chiharu pauses, raises her eyebrows along with a soft smile as she says,
"And, I could never imagine you yelling at anyone about anything."

Sumiko lights up. but slightly confused on her comment
"T-thank you... I-I think."
She quickly changes the subject
"Who have you met?"

Chiharu adjusts her gaze away from sumiko and to the space infront of herself.
"Well today, just you. But yesterday I met my room mate Mai and boy named Yuuji."
She looks over and says, "do you know them?"

"Only Yuuji. Mai, I do not know. She new here as well?"
Two new student transfer at the same time. This year is going to be fun

"Yeah, she is."
Chiharu tillts her head in an inquisitive look.
"how long have you known Yuuji?"

"Two months. Why do you ask?"

"Oh, I don't know, just curious I guess. He's just kinda nice and..."
She sighs and puts on a bit of a smirk.
"I think he might like me."

Sumiko's eyes widen again. looking flustered upon hearing her words
L-like her?! But but but...
"What makes you think that?

While resuming her usual drifting gaze, Chiharu responds with, "Oh... Nothing in particular."
After a moment of silent thought she continues, "I don't know. I might just be full of myself."

Sumiko leans over to get a good look on Chiharu
"Do you like him?"

"Maybe. He's nice and all, but not really special or anything."
She looks over to sumiko to say, "I've never really been in a relationship, so I don't really know what it's supposed to feel like. You know?"
