[Open] Robo-Chris

Chiharu reluctantly turns around to face satoshi, and overall seems to be in a 'meh' mood.
"The former."

"We met when you dissolved into the crowd." Hawke says, and stands from his seated position.

He notices Chiharu's mood, and decides to investigate.

"You ok there Chiharu? You seem a little down. Am I too boring for you?" He says, and sticks his tongue out.

"She just noticed how out-classed you are in sophistication."

I give a bright smile.

*G* "I am pretty-damn-sophisticated, my friend."

*Wink*

I sit on the edge and kick my legs back and fourth.

"Nah, you're both plenty 'interesting', I just haven't had the greatest day."
She continues to watch both of them while eating her lunch.

<Why does satoshi insist on speaking some random language I don't understand...>

"*E* I'm plenty sophisticated!" Hawke says to Satoshi with a frown, then turns to Chiharu.

"What happened? Bad days suck."

<I woke up and had a panic attack which made me late for class and I forgot to take any pain meds and I wanted to strangle this group of girls in my class that just would not shut up>

"You could say I woke up on the wrong side of the bed."

"Well tell your bed to stop turning around in the middle of the night."

She's not too open about her problems I see.

"Bad days are the worst, I totally sympathise."

She tilts her head to look at hawke at her side as she asks genuinely curious, "Why, what are your bad days like?"

"The worst ones are when my memory screw up bigtime.." Hawke says, glancing at Chiharu, "I once woke up with no recollection of the past few days. The nurse said I suffered a fugue state - a common thing for somebody who has gone through something like I did - it was pretty traumatic."

While staring aimlessly at the ground, chiharu remarks, "I guess both of our bad days are related to our reasons to be here..."
She then proceeds to continue eating her lunch.

"I think the same can be said for a lot of people here." Hawke remarks, taking a sip of coke.

To ask or not to ask...

"I didn't find out that they accepted perfectly healthy people until a few weeks back, though." He says, thoughtfully. "It makes it kinda hard to tell who is here for a reason or not."

Chiharu lightens up a bit.
"It helps when someone's condition is obvious. Like a girl who wears headphones but can still hear you perfectly fine, or someone with prosthesis, or even mister sleepy eyes over here."

Hawke grins, "I was wondering about the headphones. Something to do with your hearing I guess?" He says.

Looking over at Satoshi, smiling, he calls "She got'cha in one, dude! Not tricking this girl."

Chiharu lets out a wry smirk.
"Heh, I already taught him that fact with the chess game we mentioned before."

"Chess fan are you?" He says with an interest, "I've never been any good. You'll have to teach me someday."

Looking out over the school and the valley beyond, a small smile appears on Hawke's face.

"Mr. Sleepy eyes? My eye lids have nothing to do with my reason why I'm here."

"Go ahead, guess why I'm here."

A smirk crosses my face.

The set up is perfect. My eyes really have nothing to do with my narcolepsy. I just naturally fall deep because of how relaxed I am all the time.

"Trust me, you can know how to play it perfectly fine and be horrible at chess. You can be everything having to do with anything strategic and still be terrible at it."

"Well, from what I can tell, you always seem kinda sleepy during the day, which could be caused from one of three things, either head trauma, some kind of medication to counter act the real problem, or narcolepsy. But now with Tiberius's reaction, which was a shot in the dark by the way, I'd have to say narcolepsy is my best guess."

She then pops her fork into her mouth as she watches Satoshi's reaction closely.

An observant little bird, isn't she? A good quality to have.

The mischivous smirk on my face turns into my usual, warmer, trademark smirk.

"Good eye, Ms. Kinai-san."

[So wish, she understood English. Totally would of left it smooth at 'good eye, Ms. Kinai.']

[You could even say Kinai has a 'keen eye'...]

She responds in a fairly flat tone.
"Really, my eyes are pretty normal."

Smirk fads.

Now you're just being a smartass and I don't like it.

"Not what I meant. It's how you use your eyes that makes it good."

"You don't need 20-20 vision to know where and how to look."

"The fact that I noticed baby birds in a nest-"

I point over to the ground where, because of my higher angle and less railing in the way, I can see a tree close to the school with a small nest on a branch that sticks out.

After pointing to the nest, I cross my arms.

"-down there is not due to abnormally high eye sight, but vigilance."

Chiharu looks off into the distance and begins speaking in an equally distant tone.

"Y'know... I've never really understood the idea of noticing things... It's interesting to think about though. Like, do certain things glow or something to stand out? What about things you don't 'notice'? Are they blocked out somehow?"

Hawke lets out a sigh.

I just wanted a peaceful lunch, with no deep meaningful conversations on life as we know it....

"The act of noticing... I doubt anybody could explain it. Cause I mean... you don't see a difference in something beforehand because you don't know it's there - you all know how a brain automatically fills in the blanks, so you don't know if it looked any different before you noticed it... kinda like how your peripheral vision is black and white. If you're shown a pencil off to the side, you don't know what colour it is, but once it is brought into full view you can tell..."

He frowns for a few seconds.

"If that analogy makes any sense. It did in my head."

Well, this conversation took a phylosophical turn.

Hawke speaks.

...I don't know if I'm stupid or he made no sense because I didn't understand what he meant there...

"Abnormalities and things you make yourself look at are things you notice."

[You mind if I move a tiny bit for you? I can imagine Tiberius doing this since it's what most would do if they heard this conversation.]
"Hawke just a few seconds ago was looking around to test noticing things but it's because he's making himself look at things and notice them from his pereferal vision."

"Now, if a bird were to suddenly fly by, we'd all probably notice that on accident because it's an abnormality."

Chiharu shrugs and finishes off the last of her lunch.
"I guess it's kinda like color to the blind, because neither of those explanations really made any sense to me."

With nothing else to add, Hawke shrugs and goes over to the railing and leans on it, facing towards the other two.

"It's the festival soon, right? What're your plans?" He says, raising his eyebrows slightly.
